He's leading in the straw polls so far for the Republican nomination. If he manages to get it he'll get the worst drubbing he's got since junior high.
Cruz/Bachman? Cruz/Palin? Cruz/Ryan?
My friend and I were talking about how the Republicans will need to hire an artist to draw some creative gerrymandering outlines in order to stay in power 'cause of how much hate they're getting from the middle. I dont know if there are enough people in the heartland of America who still like 'em.
You underestimate how other people viewed the situation. There are a lot of people that viewed the Republicans in the right because they also don't approve of ACA. This probably changed votes by a little, but not as much as you would hope.
Yeah A lot but only about 25% of the nation. None of the names listed there have an approval rating even near 40% Unless Republicans do a 180 they won't win any non-red statewide or nationwide election for a looooooooooooooong time.
EDIT: Actually they can't even do that, since they have been on such a renegade mission to misinform their poorly educated base. The only way for them to win any major elections is going to be to explain to their base how wrong just about everything they have been saying for so long is pretty much totally false

The basic citizenship laws come from two sources: Jus Soli (law of the soil, people born on your land are citizens of it) and Jus Sanguinus (law of the blood, people born to citizens are themselves citizen, it can qualify from either parent though is easier to get through the mother iirc); USA accepts both. Ted Cruz's mother was an American, which means he is eligible to be an American citizen by birth, which is enough to qualify.
The real problem is that Ted Cruz isn't eligible to be President because he is Ted Cruz. xD

I agree. Conservatards down here are as active as ever. My Facebook is full of retards posting shit like "obamacare is going to require you to get tracking chips implanted that will contain all your personal information including checking accounts.". That's word for word...

OMG sooo true you don't even want to know the conservative comments on facebook to this video.... People can just be so damn DENSE
Heh, I remember having the exact same sentiment when W ran for his first term... that people would remember George I and no way in hell he'd win. Although Gore won the popular vote, the game was rigged just enough. Gerrymandering continues to get more and more creative, doesn't matter what public opinion is.
The Chomsky article someone posted earlier (or was it in the 'shutdown' thread?) is quite relevant here, well worth reading and puts things in perspective. One famous quote in particular: "those that own the country ought to govern it" pretty much sums it up... we don't matter in the slightest. It is a spectator sport, enjoy the show.
The Cook Political Report changed its ratings of 15 House seats Friday, moving 14 of them in the direction of Democrats following the government shutdown.
"Mostly as a result of the damage House Republicans sustained during the 16-day government shutdown, we are making changes to our ratings in 15 House seats, all but one in Democrats' direction," Cook Political Report said in a statement.
House Republican seats Cook deemed more in danger include Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) and Rep. Mark Takano (R-CA).
The Cook statement warned that while Democrats have acheived fundraising success recently, they still have a while before the 2014 elections.
"Democrats still have a very uphill climb to a majority, and it's doubtful they can sustain this month's momentum for another year," the Cook statement says. "But Republicans' actions have energized Democratic fundraising and recruiting efforts and handed Democrats a potentially effective message."

Being dumb isn't exclusive to conservatives. I've seen plenty of things like that from both sides of the political spectrum.

Yeah conservatives just tend to have a more unshakable conviction and pride in their ignorance. Most notably on facts that every other reasonable person has accepted.

I didn't say it was. Anyway you would really have to spend some time in the south to really get it. Its pretty bad. Crazy rumors like tracking chip, death panels, and birthers are things that many idiots around here believe. I'm embarrassed daily for my country when I read Facebook ever since Obama was elected. Its as if the civil war never ended down here...

You mean the War of Northern Aggression? It really is ridiculous.

There was a interpretation done by a group of lawyers or judges or whatever (I have bad memory) that determined that Cruz is technically eligible, but no one knows for sure. It would have to be challenged in court for the exact ruling to be made.
Also, I highly doubt Cruz would side with Canada, considering he pretty much insulted Canada while renouncing his Canadian citizenship...

Which was after he was a US Senator and after he felt he had a legitimate shot at the Presidency due to the Tea Party...
You think he renounces his Canadian citizenship if those two things don't occur? Why didn't he renounce it before he became a US Senator? It's all political bullshit. I just find it hilarious that a man born in Canada, who up till a couple of weeks ago was still a Canadian citizen, managed to become a US Senator in TEXAS and has now become the poster child of the Tea Party Patriots(you know "True Americans") and caused the US government to come to a grinding halt for several weeks. You honestly can't make this shit up.

Gorge was pretty popular among hispanics and texans.

They're finally onto us... Ted Cruz is a secret Canadian project, half man, half monster... He was sent to America on the 200th eve of the War of 1812. His mission is simple, Manifest Destiny, reversed.

I think the funny thing about this quote is that you're considering war with Canada as plausible.
