I believe what we are seeing right now is a semi-permanent backlash from the right-wing which will effectively destroy the Democrats as a legitimate party for the next 16-24 years. The Left will have to completely redefine itself, or wait for a whole new generation of voters without the bad experiences of being burned by them. All that is predicated on Trump actually winning though, so we'll have to see. As of now, it looks pretty close. Talk about living in Republican fantasyland. Millenials are an incredibly liberal generation and people don't become conservative as they get older, they get more extreme and entrenched in whatever ideology they subscribe to. As millenials get older and become more reliable as a voting block (and the older generation continues to die off), it will only bolster the left. The only reason that Republicans have had so much influence over the last 10 years is because of intense partisanship and blatant gerrymandering. Pretty sure as people get older they become conservative, when you actually have to sacrifice more of your paycheck
Speaking purely from personal experience the older hardcore conservatives I know think the younger ones are too extreme and have noticeably eased up on a lot of their past positions and have become more liberal (if only a little bit).

Makes me wonder if Hillary's private email server was hacked.

Evidently the DNC and Hillary campaign aren't all that great at security then. Surprise surprise.

But her personal server was totally secure bro.
She really wouldn't have a chance against anyone but Trump.

In the conservative punditry class there is some discussion about this. Younger Republican voters (those born after or around the time of Reagan) went more for people like Rubio and Cruz, while it was many of the older voters who went Trump. There is definitely an interesting dynamic there.
There are a few theories floated about, but one of them is that the post-Reagan voters are more ideologically stringent, most likely because of what did happen in the 1980s. In a way it's encouraging. But also scary when you think of the damage Trump could do to the conservative movement.

Federal investigators tried to warn the Democratic National Committee about a potential intrusion in their computer network months before the party moved to try to fix the problem, U.S. officials briefed on the probe tell CNN.
The revelation raises questions about whether the DNC could have done more to limit the damage done by hackers suspected of working for Russian intelligence. The DNC brought in consultants from the private security firm CrowdStrike in April. And by the time suspected Russian hackers were kicked out of the DNC network in June, the hackers had been inside for about a year. A person briefed on the DNC's response says the warning from the FBI and other agencies wasn't specific, and that the extent of the problem wasn't clear when the initial warnings came. DNC officials hired outside help after additional indications surfaced that their systems were compromised. The DNC breach occurred around the same time as breaches of U.S. government systems at the State Department and the White House. Analysts from the National Security Agency found signatures in those breaches that led them to suspect there were other intrusions outside the government, including at the DNC. "I talked to the general counsel of the DNC today and he assures me that every step along the way when we were notified of these issues that we changed systems, changed procedures," said DNC vice chairwoman Donna Brazile to CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "But these hackers are so sophisticated that they changed procedures. So yes, it went on for more than a year, but at no time did we ignore the warning from the FBI or any other federal officials." Earlier on Monday, the FBI confirmed it was investigating a hack into the DNC, the first acknowledgment from the agency that they are probing the incident, which U.S. officials suspect came from a Russian cyber attack. Fallout over the emails led DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to announce her resignation Sunday. Source

Nope, not really. That's just a common (and lazy) stereotype.
To clarify my post on millenials, they tend to lean leftward not because they're all progressives (any basic understanding of statistics should throw that interpretation out the window), but because millenials are far more grounded in things like social justice, accepting science, and equality for women.
With that said, millenials are still far more liberal (as a whole), than past generations, but of course there are plenty of conservative millenials.

The ones that would don't have security that sucks ass. Expertise is rarely the most important thing when it comes to the government hiring process, and old people often don't listen to young people.

After 9/11 and how bad the government dealt with it, there was an acknowledgment within intelligence agencies that their clearance process was stupid and excluded talented people for idiotic irrelevant reasons. These days, illegal downloading is one common stupid reason for denying someone government security work.
Plenty of other structural weaknesses in hiring, but that's one of them.

Cyber security is not a fucking wall. It moves fast is dynamic as fuck and you can have the best security in the world for a decade and then get hacked by someone. Many "good" security gets hacked moments after they come online and the hackers just wait 2-3 years before finally selling their exploit to the highest bidder.
Everyone's security is shit. If people want to break in, they will. People pay money for security so that they'll be hit last not so that they can't be hit.

I make a shit ton of money and it has only made me realize how ridiculous people are with taxes. I live like a king and still have savings. I don't have kids, but at least for now, it feels inappropriate for me to take home as much as I do. I went through quite a bit of schooling, but I certainly could stand to be taxed a lot more. You earned that (I'm assuming), screw giving it to the government. Can't stand progressive tax codes, it screws over the upper class while leaving the 1 percent and up relatively unaffected. I can't stand these super left liberals who want free shit and paid for by the rich.
