Alternatively, Hillary may have burned out the Dem party's goodwill and led to 2012-2020 Republican presidency.

Even if she does win, keeping it the full 8 years will be very difficult. So yes, Hillary is older than Obama by a significant amount. To be honest, it might be better for Democrats to throw this election so they can win the 2020 election and control redistricting.

I can't think of a single policy issue that Obama faced that Hillary would have done better. Most of the bad parts of his presidency are the parts that Hillary would have doubled down on. Most of the good, well there isn't much improvement because what Obama did well he did well. Only one major issue I could see that Hillary might have done better on was NASA. Obama bungled the future of NASA pretty badly by canceling the Space Shuttle and Constellation with no real follow up. I have no idea if Hillary would do it better but I have no reason to think she would have done it worse.

2020 election and control redistricting. Isn't that all at the state level?

When i look at who ran in 2012 on the democrats side, I dont see anyone having a chance of taking the primary. Everyone that had a chance declined to run. Why would 2020 be any different?

Winning the presidency typically has positive effects for the party down the ballot. On July 28 2016 12:40 LegalLord wrote: Redistricting or the Supreme Court, which matters more? In either case, the president would have four years to elect justices that retire.
