Before people respond that a random player would suck at macro or decision-making, would they really? Pros practice hours upon hours every day, and have to learn the timings to most builds anyway. I'm not saying everyone should play random, but shouldn't there be a couple?

Honestly the metagame is just too volatile for pro random play to be successful right now imo. It's hard enough considering THREE matchups on the current maps and considering every possibility, finding builds and timings that work just right.. I can't imagine tripling that burden.

I see it often here. Did he really say so? In this case why is he hiding it ^^ Most likely is just the wish of the fanboys and they start to believe themselves.

Volatility is good for playing random. That's what you should abuse if you do so. Still playing Random always has the luck element, plus you need 2-3 as much practice to compete, which makes it very poor choice for pro players.

He recently switched to terran in the middle of the MSI pro cup final vs Stephano. Even if he lost, I guess he can still play any race at high level.

Also you have to understand that a coach for a team is going to have a hell of a hard time helping you with builds and stuff if you have like a 33.3% chance of even getting that race. God help you if you have a Bo7... I couldn't imagine thinking of so many builds to prepare for a tournament. Yes a lot of pro players play random on the ladder. Taeja and MVP are two names for example, but for tournaments they focus on their main race so that they can prepare 100%. I play random, but I just play this game casually. It's always fun to play around with all the matchups and watch tournaments to see what new builds/strategies I can steal.

He actually said by accident while playing Amnesia that he is GM with all three races.

Guiniepig is random. Taeja was random before settling on Terran. TLO was random before realising it was detrimental. MVP plays random on ladder. Thats all the people I can think of who I actually consider 'pro'.

I dont really believe him even this, but explain this rumour. btw gm is not pro. @topic I think the main reason why there are not many of them is the way to get there. There are many random master players but over 90% of them dont understand the game at all. They just learn 1-2 allins for each matchup and that's it. Most of them go blind eco-cheese so it looks they are able to play lategame. And the rest of 10% solid good random master players are just a to small base to get many pros out of this pool. ( 5% random in masters, not total allin/eco cheesers lets say 10% = 0.5% , and now consider we only name 200-400 people pro = 1-2 pro randoms out of this base )
