The great ruby was my last gem, therefore i didnt have it to finish insane, neither any other great xy.
The only 1 shot was the malachite @ lvl 2

Tricks:
You need a great maze obviously and tons of splash towers.
Thats why the following towers are even more great in insane:
Blood Stone, Blood Ruby, Uranium (the best tower, since its great vs air as well), Yellow Sapphire (needed!), Paraiba.
Pink Diamond and Enhanced Emerald is not recommended - at least not to finish the game.
Since air is hard, a 2nd red facet can be needed, depending on your situation.
Futhermore, you need a DMG tower at rerunner level 30, without it, you might lose up to 6 lifes (at least lucky china jade, paraiba or gold is much better though).
Last one: before getting a yellow star stapphire, i manually slowed down creeps (especially air) with my usual sapphires

Another note: i hotkeyed all my splash-towers to manually attack groups of units from lvl 31 on. Thats very imporant if it gets close - and at the colossi level (lvl 41) i wouldve been dead without doing it probably.
Time to kill the boss! To do that, you need to take more risks in succeeding i feel. Means: you have to get more pink diamonds and emeralds without dying - or a bit more luck.
