you guys are using way too much dpi.

you gain speed in sc2 with controlgroups, f-keys and multitask. not mouse speed.

800 dpi with a zowie mico. I generally prefer anything around 1000-1200 dpi with the mice I use.

You can't use to much or to few DPI, its pure personal preference. Because people with low DPI compensate by making bigger arm movements and thats just there preference.

I geuss there is a point where you can have to few or to much DPI but within reason everything is possible.

1800 dpi

I'm just so use to it. I've been gaming with this dpi for probably about 4years.

Anything under 51% and over 55% will create deceleration and acceleration. I've tested it countless times with mouse movement tracker programs. You are better off turning off in game sensitivity and just tweaking it from your mouse. I've also done allot of marine split challenges and watched Bomber do it in a vid shot by moletrap with an over the shoulder view and what I've noticed is he has really high sensitivity and can split 40 marines to groups of 5 in a second . I've also noticed marine splitting is easier and faster if you have a high sensitivity.

3000 DPI using razer lachesis, w7 + sc2 at default speed.

when i was playing q3, i had even more sensitivity, you can pull out crazy thing that you couldnt with lower DPI, but you can also mess up really bad... i think you have to find a balance.

1200 dpi, 6/11 windows, 51% in game, with 1920x1080 screen res. I've tried playing with higher dpi but 1200 feels perfect to me, very precise and accurate.

Not really a fan of high DPI, feels like the cursor is almost vibrating sometimes makes it hard to micro with tiny movements accurately. Also when you pan it across the screen you can really see how it goes up and down because of the sensitivity. Feels really inaccurate. Though it may just be my mousepad ain't smooth enough.

Used to play @ 4000 DPIs, 6/11 Windows, 51% ingame and 4/10 Razer Drivers with my Lachesis.
Right now I'm playing @ 1800 DPIs on my Mamba. Same settings for Windows and StarCraft II.
It just feels right for me.

You realize that stating DPI only without the resolution is utterly useless, right?

This ESR article seems relevant to the discussion (page 2). Using this, if I were to calculate my dpi needs on my 1920x1200 monitor (27"), using these settings I would either get ~1900dpi, ~800dpi, ~400dpi for roughly high medium or low sensitivities. I tend to be a high sensitivity guy, so I would want to have a mouse with ~2000dpi max (so I can turn it down slightly).

450 dpi with a razer deathadder

Whats the damn point of a gaming mouse if you're gonna use dpi less than the average microsoft mouse?

The better sensor. Deathadder has one of the best on the market.

Contrary to popular belief, more dpi only helps if your mouse still feels too slow at 6/11. Otherwise its a waste and nothing more than a marketing buzzword. Anything above ~1800 dpi is complete bullshit unless you play at insane resolutions and/or prefer extremely high cursor speeds ingame.

Funnily, the Microsoft Intelli Explorer 3 still has one of the best sensors, thats why many cs pros still use it.

No matter how hot it gets, sooner or later there's a cool breeze coming in.

this seems to convoluted. Essentially here is the question you should be asking.

How much do you want to move your mouse going verticle and horizontal.. Dpi is almost irrelevant to this topic.

1.6 inches horizontal

1 inch vertical

I play with 800 dpi @ 1280x800

Basically i tried to get the same setting as 640x480 in terms of real world travel distance(barring the whole wide screen transition)

I think its pretty good, and its about what pro BW players play at(400 dpi @640x480)
