Since this whole topic degenerated into the usual balance flamefest where every topic ends up if unmoderated it's time for it to clean up. Locking this down for a while. Any posts made after my post [page 233] not addressing the changes in this patch directly and containting flames or general balance whine will get banned for at least a week. ~Nyovne

Is it me or is Bnet kind of broken? Maybe it's the patch going through?

Everytime I try to login, it says that it can't connect to bnet. It's definitively not my internet since I can post here and watch GSL just fine.

Neural parasite not affecting massive units? Hmm...I mean I understand why this is being tested, but I have a bad feeling. Neural parasite is almost only useful FOR massive units (exceptions einbeing Immortals, Siege Tanks, Spellcasters, and a few others). This also makes the "Deathball" for Protoss that much stronger due to not being able to NP colossi. On the other hand, neural parasiting thors, battlectruisers, carriers, etc can be very strong due to NP range and not being able to take out the infestor, and having to sit around while your army is being attacked by your army. So I'm not sure how I feel about this. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this pans out in gameplay.

I'm sorry, but destiny even being grandmaster is testiment to infestors being overpowered. Make this guy play _any_ other zerg playstyle and he's terrible. He has quit his job to stream, and his level of play is centered around his one-trick-pony playstyle, so he has everything to lose and he's biased as hell.

YES! this allows for so much earlier defense from infestor timings TvZ. Regardless of muta or infestor tech, thors can actually do something before ghosts are out! This is a great change, and I think it will have repercussions in zvp too

This. Neural really isn't the problem. It's the fact that HT's are the slowest caster and extremely vulnerable. Plus they can't cloak or burrow.

its an awful change because it made the matchup less fragile again.

All the infestor play made the matchup on both sides more micro intensive and fragile.

zerg:
infestor micro - infestors are fragile as shit (like they should be) positioning and when/how to engage was crucial in success.

protoss:
they had to be more aware of when to engage. P couldn't A-Move anymore, they had to scout ahead, templar, blink micro, move collosi out, phx lifting infestors etc. etc.


With this change they revereted the ZvP meta game back 6 months. It's going to be P deathball a-moving around while Z guesses how many corrupters to really make without them being useless. It's boring. Part of the reason BW was great was because so much shit was overpowered so if you messed up at any point you could lose. Micro, positioning and the overall skill involved in ZvP/PvZ was just hit with a bat, fucking ridiculous.

Massive units are really the only thing worth NP. So.... Unless you are going to pull a cute NP a ghost/HT to use EMP on the other ghosts or storm stuff it's useless.

But you don't even need ghosts anymore because infestors are so gimped. You don't even need HT because you can just collo deathball again.

Wow...so many complaints over the neutral parasite change. Infestors have two other spells that are pretty great too.

I dont understand your post, what infestor timing relied on NP?
unless your talking about the FG damage change, but that doesn't seem to make sense in your context.

I haven't read all the pages since the patch updates were released. Has this been discussed? While small, I have had problems with this, on Shakuras, for instance. Another slight buff for toss and terran (albeit a small one).

as a toss player, i very much dislike the neural parasite change. the only unit that maybe should be immune to NP aside from the ultra is the mothership. i think terran and toss have more than enough to counter infestors trying to NP their army.

i think this kind of a backwards change, anyway. i'd rather see massive units immune to fungal's root than i want to see massive units immune to NP, but i don't think i want to see either of those changes atm.

There is this implicit argument here that as long as a unit has a counter it should be allowed to be awesome against everything.

I've watched too much of Morrow's play to have any sort of respect for the arguments these guys are making.

edit: God help us when they balance the game on the advice of people who are financially motivated to have an imbalanced game.

Yes, Destiny and Catz won 5 GSL, 6 MLGs anda random Dreamhack here and there by using "imba" infestors and "imba" neural parasite....

I don't see it as a question of whether or not the Infestor is an imbalanced unit so much as what is the point of Neural Parasite if it can't be used on units worth being used on. Anyone can comment on that, so why not a TL featured streamer?

Not using carriers has nothing to do with NP. Carriers were not used because at least for this one unit Corrupter was good at its job.

That is true. They lost movespeed, and this huge nerf to NP. I would also like to see them returned to the state before FG buff
