Since this whole topic degenerated into the usual balance flamefest where every topic ends up if unmoderated it's time for it to clean up. Locking this down for a while. Any posts made after my post [page 233] not addressing the changes in this patch directly and containting flames or general balance whine will get banned for at least a week. ~Nyovne

Hmm...maybe together with the Ultralisk buff, we might see more fungal + ultra AOE dmg (maybe add lings) against terran mech and similarly against stalkers + colossus. I do think that Neural by itself, considering that it not only disables a huge investment in colossus/thor, but it also turns it against you, could be a bit silly at times.

Mass Thors lose cost to cost vs roaches anyways, I don't see a problem with them.
With the reduced ultralisk build time and more Thors on the field we have to wait and see how it plays out.

As of PvZ, corrupters look like they are meant to counter the collossus just like vikings in PvT although corrupters have significant lower range and are pretty horrible.
Expect a buff to them soon if NP change gets through PTR.

Tier is not whats actually relevant though. Protoss has to go all the way to the end of one of 3 tech branches to get the AoE necessary to deal with Zerg and Terran Bio and hatchtech/layertech. Regardless that's not even the focus of my post anyways.

Describing SC2 in terms of tiers is pretty much universally reviled, looked down upon, and laughed at anyway. Even a layman can see that the game has more depth than that.

Sure, sometimes you win by overwhelming your opponent, but this only happens if you are way better, or already have a significant advantage. sometimes zerg just need roaches vs terran (to defend mass helions), or hydras vs toss (to defend stargate units), but if they plan to end the game with just roach/hydra, they often just get crushed. Therefore a transition (into infestor/baneling drops/ultra/broodloard) is needed. Now back the original issue: infestors are good and they have to be. but both of the other races have a very good counter against them and if they dont built HTs or ghosts they should never complain about a loss versus heavy infestor play.

Why this random nerf to Neural?? It was one of my favourite spells in the whole game. Now I have to change my whole playstyle against Protoss. This wasn't suppose to happen

You should still be fine. Fungal Growth is the cornerstone of that unit and it comes stock, don't even ahve to research it.

What's lost in all this deep critical analysis is the fact that we're devoting deep critical analysis to a balance change which is so awful it nerfs the spell entirely instead of balances it. At the same time they still leave the spell there available as a useless upgrade as a means to troll zerg players. Pretty amusing in a sick sort of way.

Idra is no longer a top zerg. If you want to bring good examples look at the way Nestea/Losira/Drg use it to beat other races.

If that change makes it trough, Zerg will have an even harder time winning any games than before the Fungal Buff and ZvP will be almost unwinnable again, so will Terran Mech...

With the Fungal-Nerf, which is IMHO quite substantial in ZvP and with neural Nerf, Zerg will have to go back to using Corruptors and they just suck sooooooo hard. Also, Protoss will get some very nice buffs to Immos and Prism.

The fact that Blizzard even considers this change makes me heavily question their understanding of the game... again...

I understand that Protoss doesn't have the easiest time against Zerg atm, with zerg figuring out all their timings and adapting a very macro-oriented playstyle and correctly using infestors. But the Fungal-Nerf and the Protoss-Buffs (especially Immo and Prism, which will become extremely good against Zerg) will IMHO help Protoss enough to develop some new strats and timings and have a better Lategame as well (Stalker+Immo+HT's is IMHO still the best composition for Protoss against Zerg).

The only thing I like about the Neural-Nerf is, that Carriers might get slightly better (with Zerg using almost no anti-air against Protoss nowadays).

But this change would be ridiculous, I think even ppl thinking that Zerg is too strong now (yep, there are some out there) would agree with that. It's kinda like when Blizzard wanted Fungal not to target air-units, it would nearly break Zerg.

If Blizzard would do some major changes to the corruptor or weaken Collossi, it could be a not so bad change, but they'd also have to lower the mana-cost of NP.

i dont see the last patch doing much in zvt. i personally am much more afraid of a fungaled tank then a fcontrolled thor, cause tanks just own rines and thors dont.
