So, I picked up Nidalee today, and, despite not being runed for it, it's a load of fun to play. The farm is ridiculous; the movement speed is monstrous; the poke is massive; the heal is clutch; the traps provide ridiculous map coverage; pushing power is monstrous. Seems like it has everything you want in a champion minus any form of cc (remedied by item build or red though). However, I'm having trouble placing Nidalee's role on the team. What is Nidalee's purpose? It doesn't scale well enough to be a carry, support functionality is limited, and having a champion for the mere purpose of poking seems like a waste of a spot.
What is Nidalee's role on a team? When is Nidalee a good pick? What should I be doing on Nidalee? Should I even be taking farm from the harder carries?
Also, when pub stomping, Nidalee farms so hard (as I mentioned). Guinsoo/t2 boots/lichbane are all EASY farm. What do I get after this? Do I have enough utility at this point to start just counter building defensive items? Deathcap the only viable route? Rylais viable?

i feel like its better to get a deathcap before lichbane. better heals and pokes.

pusher, ganker/chaser, support. The heal + dps buff is crazy for ranged dps.

You usually poke towers and heal your team while they poke as well. When a teamfight starts you heal people and poke / draw fire (you can get away from tight spots easily). When the dust settles you are a great cleaner.

Nidalee is a good pick when:
1. you are extremely strong and well practiced with Nidalee 2. You have great game sense and map awareness 3. Your team needs an AP carry solo top
Helps if: 4. Your team has enough CC already or, 5. your team is already poke-oriented.
And finally, your teammates have to be non-braindead enough to: 6. not engage when Nidalee is split pushing.
Deathcap good, iirc Rylai's also pretty good. I think GA is also pretty standard.

split pushing, dominate lane, infinite poke/heal while pushing towers with blue 1 hit ko teemos with spears

Rylais sucks and I dont get rageblade anymore. Just rush Deathcap and lichbane/void.
