They don't like the idea that they are bigots so they hide behind the nonsensical statements like "I take his word for it, BUT... (insert crazy here) It is so infuriating for non-white Americans when they hear/see stuff like Trump/Hannity/Rush are putting out there. It just confirms the suspicion that it doesn't matter what someone of color does e.g. Come out of a single parent home go to college, continue one's education at some of the nations top Universities Columbia and Harvard, Graduate in the top %'s of one's classes also be the president of the Harvard Law review. Then instead of going into some commercial application of one's education one chooses to go into some of the most desperate communities in America and try to help them help themselves. Then be a professor of constitutional law at Harvard. Also write a book about your story. Become a U.S. Senator. then go on to win a historical election to become the President of the United States.... And still.... STILL some wealthy white (or orange in Trumps case) will question ones legitimacy as a Student, an Author, a Professor, the President, and most disgustingly his allegiance and citizenship to and of the United States of America As pathetic as that is, it would be of little consequence if SOOO many people didn't buy into it. For the apologists that have and will make the argument "There are SOME crazy people everywhere/ on both sides/ or that there are legitimate concerns regarding the aforementioned nonsense" It's simply not the same It's not a "few crazies "It's roughly 50% of the republican party and just about 25% of The population meaning over 75,000,000 people believe that crap of those roughly 75,000,000 people the vast majority must be Racists, Bigots, Idiots or some combination there of. My dad still believes that the document is fake. Well he's been going on about this stuff for months, and since they released this document I kind of want to shut him up. I disproved the layers thing to him already. Now he is using the race being African, the missing seal, and saying that it isn't the right color for a birth certificate as his argument. I know that it isn't fake myself, but could someone cite some sources that disprove this? I really want to shut my dad up lol. If you really want to get a message across to your fellow Americans you're better off shutting your mouth entirely, and instead take into action the ideals and values you know to be good. Leadership begins with the people working together to solve our problems, not debating over them until the become so tired and worn out that neither side knows which to believe without just attaching themselves to the opinions of their peers. | ||

Yeah, we get it, the issue is absurd and wrong. Some people won't agree, and they are trolls. There is no point in debating them except to stroke your own ego. This issue is so simple really. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. If a group of people don't like someone, they are going to accept any damaging rumors, whether they have evidence or conviction about it or not. It's really not that shocking to be quite honest. In politics people have been vilified as racist, fascist, socialist, uneducated, over-educated, murderers, synonymous with hitler, George Bush doesn't like black people, I could go on all day. So now someone gets accused of being born in a country other than the one he claims. My god! How could we live in such a world! And Obama makes an announcement to gain easy political points and suddenly he was a victim of vicious and hateful racists who forced him to go to these lengths to finally "get to the important matters." People are less cynical than I thought... | ||
