It’s only an extreme portion of the population that doesn’t believe Obama was born in the U.S., and this question isn’t really relevant to him. It does show, however, how far removed from reality the so called “birthers” (the name given to people who question Obama’s birth), and supporters like Donald Trump, are. We all know that the Constitution is subject to interpretation, and has been since it's conception. Let's be honest about that at least. | ||

Honestly, this entire issue is retarded. If anyone else, for example, was born in Hawaii and they asked the government for their long-form birth certificate, they'd be denied. They'd get the COLB instead, which is good enough for a passport, driver's license, etc. | ||

BUT THATS OFFTOPIC  I can see why americans, nationalistic as most of them are, would want to know if their president was American born. What I dont get is, that this would practically be a prevention of someone moving from England fx and making a political career after living their whole life in America but getting born in England? I wonder if it's simply nationalistic or even simplier that some republicans are still as racistic. | ||

Racist is a strong term, but I am sure that colour is intrinsically tied to the whole birther issue. If he was a white man with a polish sounding name this would never have happened. I don't think his colour is the primary issue for these people...but it's another thing that makes him an outsider to them, an infilitrator, and another reason why they cannot accept that he was legitimately elected as President. | ||
