Although if I wasn't so broke ass broke at the time, I would have, without a doubt, gotten a Xai... qq The Spectre is just crap. Definitely not worth the money when all it does is flash some lights at a certain APM. Unless you're the type of guy who likes flashy things, just get something practical. Saves money and gets the job done.

I'm gonna buy a spectre too, even as a huge Steelseries fan, and I've been kind of a razer anti-fan.. The spectre will fucking own, and what's the most appealing about it to me is it's shape and light weight. Dont listen to the people who actually think they have a clue here. I can tell you right now that unless you were at E3, you have not touched the Spectre and afaik no one has it yet, which is the reason why you havent seen any reviews or anything. Either way go with what you want. I'd buy a mouse today with the idea of having the perfect fit for your hand and nothing else. The techs are spectacular, and that's what you should expect from any mouse today. If it actually is horrible and have sucky drivers and built-in mouse acc (Xai...), then hell, it's terrible, but I doubt that will happen. When it comes to the mousepad I think it's the same thing here, but I'm going on a whim and say that it's probably abit too expensive. There is alot of great options around. What are you looking at when you get a mousepad? Answer that, look it up, and apply it to the items you consider.

It's shocking how many people not only like razer products, but actually make threads about them and recommend them to their friends with these ridiculous testimonials like "i've tried every mouse, but the quality and price of razer is unbeatable!". I've been using a microsoft intellimouse for the past decade and it was like 20 bucks. How long do razer products usually last? From what I can tell from my friends, 2 years is about the max lifespan. That's pretty sad for how much they cost. If I'm going to be the 'xtreme gamer' they say I will become after using their products, I don't want my mouse to just die in the middle of a game. edit: ^^^ MOUSE DRIVERS!??! FORCED MOUSE ACCEL???? Yeah, it's not like SteelSeries has a history (Ikari Optical) of hyping (Ikari Laser) their mouse's performance (Kinzu) and then releasing a technical letdown (Xai.) Razer makes a lot of terrible, overhyped crap but they have gotten their optical mice right as much as anyone since early Logitech. Lord knows why Logitech abandoned the MX310 and 518 development for terrible Avago lasers.

I've been using a microsoft intellimouse for the past decade and it was like 20 bucks. A new IME3.0 costs more than an Abyssus and DA 3g (spiritual successor to the IME 3.0.) Those two mice are continually $30~ and lead all others in performance. Unless you want a WoW mouse, there's essentially no performance gain by going above the Logitech/Razer $30-40 mice, and often performance gets worse. But no matter how many mouse threads that pop up, people will continue to throw down $70 on an Imperator or G9x that's technically inferior.

I've been using a MX 518 for around 4 years and have decided to get a DeathAdder to upgrade.

If it's worth the money is extremly subjective, and it will come down to feel and not performance. Imo.

The DeathAdder is only $48 on Amazon right now, which makes it one of the best bargain mice you can find right now. The MX518 is currently $42. Yeah, some of the others are pretty expensive, but one of the very best is quite reasonably priced.
