gonna be buying the new spectre soon. been using the same microsoft optical wheel mouse for over 5 years.

does anyone have it early that can give some reviews and some videos?

also the ironclad has been out for a while, does anyone have it and any reviews and advice? is the extra bucks for this mouse mat worth it? its got a hard surface which is different from other mouse mats. its VERY expensive for a mouse mat, but money is not an issue atm and im looking to buy a new mouse and new mouse mat for gaming. i want the best out there and ive already decided on the mouse.

unless ur after APM technology, the spectre seems to be overpriced and nothing special.

i'd recommend an abyssus instead

I'd highly recommend the Razer Deathadder Mouse or Imperator (I have the Imperator). AMAZING mice.

Also, the ironclad is..well not reviewed that much. I'd stick with getting a Razer Destructor (I have this as well)...its a hard pad, and pretty much perfection.

I have the Razer Deathadder and it is seriously the best mouse ive ever had. not to fancy with a shitload of extra buttons (like the naga) or anything. amazing quality for the price. haven't seen the spectre but if its even close to the deathadder then its gotta be awesome.

Hey, guess this is slightly OT but I wanna join the mice-reommendations here.
What I've used in the past years:
Logitech MX510, G7
Microsoft Habu, Sidewinder X8 and IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0
and a couple of crappy noname products which broke within a few weeks.

A week ago I've replaced the IM Explorer 3 with a Roccat Kone [+] and I have to say, that this is by far the best mouse out of the whole set of mice I've used before.
Sure, you have loads of unnecessary stuff with it, but also some handy things (don't wanna advertise the features here, guess you can google that on your own).
The Razer Spectre is listed for 80€ over at Amazon, as well as the Roccat Kone [+] - so it might be worth to do some thinking here .

As for the mouse mat: Steelseries Qck, nothing else. Had different Razer mats and pads and other things - the Qck is awesome and kinda cheap imo.

If you have deathadder you haven't tried the logitech mx5XX or g500. It's roughly the same shape except that they're better quality.

I tried all 3 and i finally settled on the Xai from Steelseries.

I went through both generations of death adder and hated all of them.
G500 and the MX5 series are good but mediocre at best.
G5 is the only logitech mouse I recommend and maybe the G9X if it fits your hand.

DeathAdder has cheap feeling plastic where the right clubbuttons rest and if you play 8 hours like I do a day that shit feels awful plus it collects grime like no other in the crevice. Definetly doesn't come recommended. Also the deathadder will degrade, the mouse casing will creak when you hold it.

If you want to try the razer spectre go get a Razer Abyssus it has the exact same shape minus the lights and is way cheaper. It has 3200dpi and is a good basic mouse. I'd recommend it as an alternative to the Xai if its too expensive for you.

neither of them is worth it. as far as i can tell, the spectre is a razer salmosa with side buttons and SPECIAL APM TECHNOLOGY. you don't really need either of those, so save yourself some money and just get a salmosa (i have one and it's definitely a great mouse).

also, all you need for a mousepad is a steelseries qck. don't spend too much on a mousepad. qck is a tried-and-true awesome mousepad and the price on it is better.

if money really isn't an issue and you really can't imagine getting anything but those two products, then sure. but if you're cool with getting basically the exact same thing for less money (just less fancy looking), go for a salmosa and a qck instead.

take the money you save on those two things and get yourself a razer blackwidow, because i just got one of those bad boys and that's a razer product worth it's price if there ever was one.

Qck is the shit. Best pad i've ever had.

Mx518 for FPS
Ikari Laser for RTS.

Fun fact : A manufacturer in my country has found a way to duplicate the Qck design so there are some really good quality pads for 10 dollars.

Just so people know. The Razer Spectre uses the same 3.5G Sensor (aka Phillips Twin Eye) as their other laser mice.

This sensor has massive problems with built in acceleration, prediction and Z-Axis distance control. The Phillips Twin Eye sensor is cheap and nasty and not good for gaming. If you must get a Razer mouse get one of their IR Optical mice. You are probably better off looking at Steelseries/Logitech laser mice that use the superior Avago sensor.

Having owned several PTE based mice I can tell you from first hand experience they are utter shit.

I bought the Ironclad. Amazingly smooth surface. Only I've noticed with this board against what I've used previously (Razer Mantis, before that nothing) that hair, gunk etc seems to collect on it from time to time and you can feel the mouse feet skirting over them. But no big deal though. I do not regret buying it
Does it look contrived if a new member already has their own quote?

actually deciding on the destructor now instead of the ironclad

the thought that the smooth ironclad surface gets dirty doesnt sound appealing

what about the razer mamba?

You should get this mouse instead of the razer mouses. It is really nice for FPS and RTS gaming.

I use the Mamba, for perspective I used to use the MX518 and I find the Mamba to be better even without considering the wireless. Feels great in the hand, excellent button placement, looks great, extremely precise... I remember noticing a difference when I first switched over. It's a biggish mouse which I like (hence why I used to use the MX518).

The wireless is well done since you can unplug the braided USB from the dock and into the mouse and you instantly have a wired mouse (while also charging it). This is good for me because I constantly forget to put it in the dock to charge, so I tend to just use it wireless until the battery runs out (2-3 days) then plug in the USB and use it wired until it is charged, rinse repeat.
