Hey guys I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can return empty beer kegs for money?
I heard from some people that selling them back to the brewery they came from or using craigslist/ebay to get rid of them would be the easiest thing to do.
I need money to get to work next week lol.
Anywho anyone know how much they are worth?
OOps wrong section can someone move this to general

The tanks running on beer kinda fits into the space-viking image of Terran.

My comment wasn't to demean the OP or anything, it's just that, as you know, it was posted in SC2 and the SCV's look like they are carrying kegs from refineries. It was just playful ^^;

with the tap or without the tap? with the tap it would be more, i guarantee that. i doubt you'll get tons of cash or anything. let me check google.
based on 1 website, i'd say 35-50$ with tap, 25$ without.
you might want to try a homebrewer, or put it on craigslist/ebay

How about selling them to that local bar.

I think you can typically sell them back to the supplier. Just give them a call (takes 5 minutes)

Or you could just give em back, it's not like you paid for them or anything and in the long run, if everybody did so, it'd mean cheaper beer for all of us

The supplier doesn't automagically re-obtain the beer kegs. Same as pallets, bottles and crates. Hmm looking on wikipedia makes me wonder just how many countries have this.

It has nothing to do with reading the post. He did read the post. He was questioning whether he actually FOUND them vs. "Oh hey...look what I found" and running off with beer kegs to sell for cash.

As far as my personal experience in restaurants and with my own personal kegerator, the keg shells are rented/lent to the bar or establishment with a deposit for all shells. When a shell is empty, it is returned to the brewer to be refilled, and a new shell is left in it's place, thus keeping the amount of rented shells the same. Same for personal use, I have a deposit placed at the local liquor store for the rental of a shell, when it's empty I return it and by returning the old one am able to receive a new shell of any size. I would imagine that the removal of kegs from outside a bar, would result in a loss to the establishment.
Now all morals aside, I would say it's going to be difficult for you to sell those for a decent price without going straight to the brewer, which they may have records of serial numbers on the kegs. I'd say your best bet is Craig's List, eBay, or check out your local college campus classifieds or even ask some local frat houses if they want them.

Ummm, any large liquor store that sells kegs? Shouldn't be too hard to find an a medium-large city, just look for stores that start with "Liquor".
IIRC, returning kegs are like $20-$25 but the taps are around $40.

It sounds like you stole them lol... ima use that if i get caught for stealing or something. ill be like i just found a bunch of money in this wallet that was just sitting there in this guys pocket. Anyways the local recycle center near my house doesn't officially take them but the guy gave me 12 bux for it so maybe try there.

You should be able to return them at the BC equivalent of the 'LCBO' or 'The Beer Store' or whatever store sells alcohol in your area.

Usually when you buy them from a store, you pay a deposit ($50 here) for the keg and tap. You get it back when you return it. You could probably return it to anywhere that sells kegs and get your "deposit" back.

A keg would be way too heavy to sell online. You would probably have to ship it freight, and nobody is going to pay for that, because the shipping cost alone would be more than the cost of a new, full keg.

You ass, the bar was probably setting them there for pickup.

IIRC, returning kegs are like $20-$25 but the taps are around $40. Depends on the size of the keg but im pretty sure they will go for a lot more then $20-25. Especially since they're from a bar which probably suggests they are maximum size.
