GOMtv's Averatec-Intel Classic Season 3 is scheduled to run for 20 weeks beginning Mar. 29th 2009. Unlike most other Broodwar leagues, there will be no preliminary matches, as all 124 participants play in the elimination tournament.
In the season 2 Grand Finals, we saw Bisu handle Jangbi with relative ease, showcasing his finely tuned PvP senses and taking the series 3-1. His victory was soured, however, when he played Jaedong in a special GOM match two weeks later, and lost to the season 1 champion in a brilliantly played 2-3 series.
As with last season, this season's games are broadcast live on GOM's official page with english commentary by Nick "Tasteless" Plott and "SuperDanielMan" Lee, making it the only S.Korean tournament that actively courts the foriegner fanbase. With a 40 million won grand prize, the Classic should generate some very competitive play, watch it with me at GOMtv.net!

Chance is Luxury. And one of the Tempests is probably HiyA since he is listed as Terran in the GOM bracket and has his team (OZ) switched with Iris... No idea about the other Nbs... Rostam guess is most probably right.
www.gomtvstar.com Top right is a calendar type thingie. Clicking through it I could find the live matches for next Sunday, together with the korean names of the players. Those can be thrown at the TLPD, which gives us Stats as the unnamed KTF Protoss warrior.
I've yet to read an announcement on why the non-participating teams are avoiding the Classic. I haven't even heard a rumor from a half-reputable source. So, sorry, I can't answer your question. Maybe one of our korean-speaking members can do some investigative journalism and find out for us?

Four groups don't have winners because they didn't have the extra player to justify playing this round.

When they have two rounds, the first one is reps and the second one is live, due to the late starting time for the event tonight, I'm guessing this will be live (no reps).
GomTV have done a major update to their "schedule" on the the English page. Including brackets for Ro64 R2 and all results for Ro128 and general fixes.
it'd be nice if they would schedule gom so that the finals are during the prelims of other leagues that way we wouldnt have as much downtime i.e. shity matches and we have a more complete year of starcraft.

They just set it up by seeds, how is that bad? It's just bad luck.
I don't see where it says that the second group plays on Tuesday, but given the trend that's been going it's a pretty fair assumption that this will continue.

I swear, eventually a CJ protoss is going to figure out how to beat Jaedong. Both Movie and jjonga have taken games off of him, and I have a feeling with what they've gathered from those games Much is going to be able to crack him.

What's funny is that it's very possible that Jaedong will play nothing but CJ players in the entire tournament
Ro64: Movie Ro32: jjonga Ro16: Much Ro8: Effort Semis: Iris Finals: Skyhigh
While this scenario may not be extremely probable (Skyhigh managing to beat Flash in a Bo5 is not exactly the most likely thing in the world), it is hilariously possible.
Looking forward to... BaBy v. sKyHigh - sKyHigh has a two game losing streak v. Terran. More BaBy magic? Yes, please. Violet v. EffOrt - The best new zerg against the best(?) new protoss. Two ridiculously hot players at any rate. (Although who knows how hot they'll be a the end of the month...?
EDIT: (The post above) I think that's a reflection of CJ being a good team, at any rate. But it's likely Jaedong plays EffOrt next round... And then Iris does not have a ton of competition in that part of the bracket. I could see it happenung. Real pity that the two best zergs are in the same side of the bracket though.

Then he'll 5 pool and lose in the finals, and in GOM S4 Skyhigh will win and take out all of Oz!

Wow. Effort vs Violet should be quite a show. I'm just worried about Jaedong. I mean come on, his workload makes flash look like a slacker in comparison. Carrying Oz to the proleague finals while killing everyone he meets, GOM, OSL and MSL?? Jaedong might go insane or do something insane like drop off early in one or several individual leagues.
Wow, 3-0 the first two games were nice but flash was just too good. That third game pissed me off because July had a huge advantage but lost it because he didnt take out flashes third. :'(

he was ahead arguably every game, flash just wouldn't die
If Flash wins this, it might be the easiest route to a gold that I can think of.
I was actually kind of hoping Effort won against Iris, because then Flash would at least claim some kind of real challenge in this tournament.
Pure Reach HoeJJa YoonJoong July Berserker
Not a single top ten player among them. It's not like it's Flash's fault; that's the way the chips fell, but it's kind of sad that he won't really get much acclaim if he was to win.

I'd say Iris is right behind the S-Class/Top-A Class terrans, just like July honestly.
For Terrans better than Iris you can say Leta, Flash, and Fantasy for sure. Skyhigh on a good day, as well. Other than that Iris is probably the fifth best terran, honestly(other terrans are potentially better, such as Mind, ForGG, and to some extent Sea, Nada and Hiya, but currently? Heh, no).
July's a top 10 zerg but like 7th or 8th in that category so not as impressive.
It'll be on par with, like, July's OSL run. It's still a championship and all, but it is kind of easy, comparatively. It's a shame progamer schedules are so full that 90% of the Gom players can barely practice for their games.
Anyone know if anything like this is being done for the English stream?
Apparently the Korean site has a super cool stream interface set up for the final with full unit/building counters for each player on the sidebars. The link to the page is here, but it's supposed to be a popup so you may need to resize the window a little.

Although this is true, let's not forget he hasn't lost a single set, which is really impressive.

Wow! That is a really cool feature. I doubt they'll have that for the English stream, but it would be amazing if they did.
The Korean site is so much better than the English one anyway..
