Mod Edit: Since I've seen a ton of "go FA" posts (thanks btw), I want to clarify that I'm not playing - I haven't played seriously for 2+ years.. I don't know why I'm on the list of participating players - nobody asked me or told me about this tournament. So if anyone was pretending to be me I'd like to know. Thanks.

After the death of starcrafting.se (AKA gamingeye), the Swedish community has been slumping pretty hard. As with most other countries today, we miss our greats of the past like SaFT, Jesse and Daaman. Even our relatively new gosus such as HayprO are retiring. He's been playing for a long time, but only reached stardom recently. However, the Swedish community is now headings towards something good again. We are going through something similar to the renaissance.

New stars are rising in the Swedish scene. Especially MorroW, Naugrim and Shauni come to mind. There are also some new players performing very well. SortOf and OminouS are great examples of that. Moreover, the national teams are more active than ever. Sarain is doing a great job with Sweden A and I think RoSe finally got his connection back up again.

The problem of lacking a community portal is also gone now. MeYera, with much help from Nysikto (<3) have launched www.swebw.tk . Some of you might have noticed the gosubets of Swedish tier 3 players. Those are events hosted by swebw.tk. Other than random showgames, this new site will be hosting a Swedish KOTH (in which I will play the first game vs Becks in 5 minutes!), a forum for our Swedish players and the great tour handled almost single handledly by MeYera!

The tournament is called "Sweden's best" and has been run once before with a huge success. It had all of Sweden's elite players, great coverage (including live shoutcasting and vods with commentating released afterwards) and very good organisation. Gurram, who also dominated the last Swedish race wars, was last time's winner, but he is sadly not participating this year.

Here is the list of players participating this time:
+ Show Spoiler +
Get.MeYera
dogmanner (NaW-Jolly)
sD.Zoler
APOCALYPSETANK

Grupp 8:
NrG.Neliel
BW-Space

There are basically three rounds:
Group stage 1
Group stage 2
Playoffs

The top 2 in every group will advance directly to group stage 2 while the third place player in group 1 will play the third place in group 2 etc. making four third place players advancing to the second group stage as well. The two top players in the groups are seeded. For example, Naugrim and TreK are seeded in group 1 and Neliel and Space in group 8.

My predictions for group stage 1:
+ Show Spoiler +

Group 1:
1. ToT)Naugrim
2. BW-TreK
3. TS-Rupbar
4. Get.Lovelace
5. Raistlin

This is probably the third hardest group after Group 3 and Group 7. Both Naugrim and TreK are favorites to take the title of Sweden's best and I (TS-Rupbar) believe that I would have a decent shot at placing second in any group other than 1 or 3. I don't know the skill of Lovelace or Raistlin, but I heard they're not very good.

Group 2:
1. BW-DowN
2. AoN.OminouS
3. hAsu)sOda
4. hon_MusIC
5. suntester

The top 3 in this group could go either way. BW-DowN is most likely to place first, but I would not be surprised if he lost to both sOda and OminouS. BW-DowN used to be the best player in Swe B for a long time, OminouS is in Swe B and sOda is an old Swe B player known for cheese tactics. MusIC is a 2v2 player and I don't even know who suntester is, so I expect them to place 4th and 5th.

Group 3:
1. NaW-datoby
2. NrG.MorroW
3. TS-Sillen
4. ArchonS
5. RoSe

This group is very interesting. I'm looking forward very much to see the games between datoby and MorroW. TS-Sillen and DA]gerrarD (ArchonS) are among the best unseeded players.

Group 4:
1. BW-TuFFeR
2. NaW-Runa
3. agony
4. sD.Zoler
5. Zsork

BW-TuFFeR is a huge favorite to take this group home. I don't know who agony is, but he's apparently in Swe B, so I'm guessing he will take the third place after the Swe B player NaW-Runa. Zoler and Zsork should be no threat to the top 3.

Group 5:
1. sD.SieGe
2. NrG.SortOf
3. NaW-Jolly
4. BeCkS[BoB]
5. APOCALYPSETANK

sD.SieGe was a very good player 6 months ago, but recently returned from inactivity. He's still quite good and I don't see how SieGe and the Swe B player SortOf could not end up in the top 2. Jolly might be able to steal a game from SortOf with his feared kirurgterran TvZ.

Group 6:
1. Get.Shauni
2. Enivid[MB]
3. Saafen
4. Banned(OD)

Very uninteresting group. Shauni and Enivid are obvious favorites.

Group 7:
1. Mireille
2. FrozenArbiter
3. Get.MeYera
4. DeWa[KB]

This group, on the other hand, is the most interesting of them all! It has a very unsure outcome. Mireille and FrozenArbiter are old inactive gosus and MeYera and DeWa are Swe B class players. I expect Mireille to take first place, but I'm not so sure about FrozenArbiter. This group could go any way.

Group 8:
1. NrG.Neliel
2. BW-Space
3. Cyrox
4. Salle

The worst group of them all. It has the two worst seeded players and among the two worst non-seeded players.

In a poll about whether this should be covered in English, the option for English won. If you want the live casts and VODs to be commentated in English, please give your support to MeYer and Salesman. They're doing a great job hosting this tournament for the Swedish community.

It'd be cool if you guys could give your own predictions, show support for your favorite players or the organisation and follow this tournament. If you're interested, you can view the old games commentated in Swedish HERE

This event starts 7/3 and the finals are played 15/3.

Please check this thread for further updates and results. Thank you for reading and GO SWEDEN! : )

Could you be any more of an ass? I started thinking OH GREAT an interesting event, sure sweden was one of the best nations, and blah blah you admit that it has lost most of its great players. But then you go on to write

The worst group of them all. It has the two worst seeded players and among the two worst non-seeded players.

Like this isin't some sort of morale blow to the few players representing your country. Try being less of an ass next time.

Hmm it's true, though. Space is very inactive afaik and Neliel is Swe B while most of the other players are Swe A. The two others are unknown players. Neliel is still better than me and Space was better than me before he went inactive. He might still be. I've seen far worse bashing of better players on TL.net before. If you look at the other seeded players, most of them are in Sweden A... I don't think Neliel and Space would disagree oO

The players in the tournament are all pretty good.. he dosnt mean that they are bad just that they are a little worse than the other seeded players. But maybe he could have putt it nicer :p.

I remember playing TS-Sillen a few times long ago and every time I played him he had gotten alot better... A really great guy along with the rest of the TS guys.

A big good luck especially to Archons, TS guys & FrozenArbiter!

The first group stage is about to start and there is already some drama!

One player dropped out and Gurram wants to replace him, but half the group won't let him! OMG, this is so exciting.

EDIT: More rumors! Some players are stating that MorroW in fact is Mireille and that OyA indeed was the infamous hacker and faggot DFA. Can anyone confirm?

This tour is supposed to be won by the best player in Sweden. Denying Gurram an open spot is really pathetic.

This event is not for money but for glory and if you can't even accept a new threat then your just a big faggot who probably cheat to win if possible. Not omg hack but rather having a friend ob and whisper "tips", and those kind of stuff. Swedish bw players lack honor and morale and this just pushes me over the edge

I miss starcraftse.com... Used to be tournaments and shit all the time, and I got to play against what people considered pro in those days. Unfortunately replays didn't exist back then so not only did I become convinced they were hackers because of their way superior macro, I also couldn't watch the replay to see if it were true >_<

Hm, I haven't played seriously for like 2 years Sorry but I wont be playing, especially since I haven't played toss at ALL for over a year. I'm content to wait for sc2..

Also I want to know why I'm in the list of players participating but this is the first time I hear of it? Is someone pretending to be me or was I just invited by default (thanks, but as I said, too inactive, give it to someone more deserving)?

I'm fine with giving Gurram my spot if nobody objects, that way you wont even change the race composition of the group!

EDIT: Or has this thing already started? Eitherway I'm really interested in why I was included in the list of players but not told (or if someone pretended to be me).
