it will come after the ASTL S2 probably like a month of waiting. 910 already posted couple of maps that are in the process of reviewing for ASL 11 and there is a map made by Minerals amongst them, called "Turbine" ![]()

They had good viewership numbers on ASL10 too, so I wouldn't worry about there being no more ASL. At most they could end up removing english casting. That's something to fear, specially after Tasteless' words on the finale of ASL10.

The only credence I give to this is the fact that Tasteless & Artosis have branched out and are now casting both PUBG and Valorant events in Korea. Which means at least in theory, they are worried about their future in 2021 in terms of casting BW/SC2 events. But I think this is very unlikely, and that it is far more likely that Tastosis are branching out to earn extra money from not having a current ASL or GSL to cast.

What worries more is the lack of foreign hype in the recent ASTL. I'm just basing this from the low number of posts in the LR thread (maybe the actual viewer numbers are more encouraging). I really don't get why the existence of foreign casters should be a factor. Personally, I'll watch any BW (or even SC2) tourney with or without an English cast. Same goes for any sport I'm passionate in. Watching a football match with Latin American commentators is just as entertaining (if not even more than boring English ones) though I don't understand much Spanish. I can understand how casting may make a difference to casual viewers. But I'm guessing most BW and SC2 viewers are hardcore fans familiar with the game. Casting really shouldn't be a factor.

ACS has to be played first and then ASL follow up.

It's the same as it's always been (not just in BW, just in everything really incl. sports). The hardcore/devoted fans won't care too much about the extra things: like atmosphere/casters/hype etc. While the casuals will over-value those vs. the actual games/sport etc. Thus the current situation. I would say that everything would be better if the event was live and/or casted on youtube.

I would say that everything would be better if the event was live and/or casted on youtube. True, but I feel the value of casting is over-stated in traditional sports. Take the World Cup - the biggest sporting event. Lots of my friends who don't know much about football and hardly watch a game in normal times will tune in to the matches. In fact, most of them are so 'casual' and 'noob' that they don't understand the majority of stuff the commentator is saying. But they know enough of the game to roughly keep track of the score and momentum of the game (possession, shots on goals, etc.). Yes, it's all about the hype. Office pool, media buzz, etc. Casting helps the hype, but the effect is miniscule compared to all other factors. Of course, traditional sports are more intuitive to the casual viewer. But that's the same for esports. I really doubt there's a large segment of casual viewers who have trouble following the game on their own and will only tune in the game when there's a English caster.

People say this stuff whenever Tastosis do anything different but they've done PUBG for a while, World of Tanks before that, even dota once. Generally when a studio like that has a requirement to fulfill an english broadcast they'll just grab someone that's gamer-y and has broadcast chops, and Tastosis are the easiest to grab for gigs since Afreeca works with them already so much.

Although, of course, it is still a small community, so wouldn't expect too much more than a few pages of comments here on TL. It is unfortunate that ASTL2 isn't being streamed on youtube. Afreeca buffers randomly for me and i have to refresh the page. ![]()

Without Tasteless or Artosis involved with the casting, the current phase of my relationship with BW leaves me uninterested unless it's a particularly compelling match for my tastes in players.

They should select one of 2 of the 'best ' games from each round and upload them IMO. I appreciate what they do and am subbed, just my 2c I need to get back into the habit of putting the timestamps, that was me being lazy ^^
