So yea, i was observing this game the other day- half asleep mind you, and then i notice 2 zealots race across the ground like, insanely faster than usual. I;m kinda confused, watch the rep and low and behold 2 zealots really did run across the map at a super fast speed.

Quite bizarre o.O;

It is a known bug - but it's so incredibly rare most veterans don't even know about it

I had the luck of finding out about it from some crappy newb thread on ggnet

i've spent hours trying to reproduce it so that i could build rush strategies around it, but to no avail hydras also do it

this happened to me once on hamachi, some stimpacked marines tried to run up a ramp blocked by goons and ended up running back and forth insanely fast, then there was a brief drop screen and they glitched through the goons (i assume they were running so fast they clipped straight through their collision box). was the game played on hamachi? my best guess is that it's caused by some sort of network desync trying to sort itself out

I must be lucky or something, but I've had this bug in 3 games during my playing "career" It's quite fun, first time it happened I didn't know it existed and I was like "Hey where did those 2 zlots go...they were like here a second ago, and now they're across the map?" Then I checked the minimap and noticed they were moving so fast, I could barely catch them to see wtf is happening

Well...

I Had my lurks do this on luna just last month I think. Also in late winter in a Nex D game I saw someones vessel shotting around the map so fast I could barely see it. I stopped everything in awe of the speed I saw from the vessel. I have seen many more units do this bug. I wonder how it is done. The guy with the vessel seemd to know how to do it since he was not shocked and didn't type anythiing.

rofl that would be so good.

Unfortunately they only seem to do it when they've gotten jammed up and lost ground, then they break even by turbo running. I've never seen a Hydra or Zeal just rocket boost forward for no reason.

It happened to me once on RoV. My zealots were heading to the middle of the map, and two of them got stuck.

They would try getting out of each others way, but couldn't. So, I just stayed watching them, seeing how long they would be stuck like that.

Then, they literally sped across the map.

I was like O_O!

If you watch the two zealots on slowest you can see that they are both in different groups, the one on the bottom in the top group, and the one on the top in the bottom group. The two groups were told to go to top and bottom so the zealots tried to go to their positions but ran directly into each other, being perfectly matched up and trying to get around each other they probably sped up a little to prevent things like this from happening, but instead either zealot going around the other, they both tried to do it at the same time so they ran to the doodad on the left and turned around and ran all the way to the cliff on the right, which had a small difference in surface so the zealots broke apart and headed to the right spots at the normal speed.

if you ever play the ums map snipers it seems to happen alot ot me when my ghost gets pinned behind objects going back and forth and ocne he breaks free..he triples his pace

it really doesnt help you get across the map faster because your wasting so much time stuck behind the object, your essentially covering the same amount of ground in the same amount of time

Because it doesn't happen to him all the time, he just said it did for no reason, or maybe some sort of petty bragging, I don't know. It obviously can't happen to anyone all the time unless he can somehow duplicate it.

I've seen it happen a fair few times but probably not for a few years now. I think it pretty much always happened when units got stuck on each other trying to pass and then hit the NOS.

and its just like one already said to resync the game, the units seem to be stuck at your client but not on the other player/players, they are just as long sped up unit they are at the position they are on the other player

There wa a UMS map specifically designed to recreate the "tango" bug with most any units. basically you get the 2 units to run into each other and "tango" or "dance" back and forth trying to get passed each other. But they end up shooting off at high speed.

A couple other related glitches are when this happens on a ramp and the units just get stuck on the ramp in an infinite jumble trying to escape.

Another bug I had with lurkers a few times when I burrow them they half burrow or just hold position above ground and fire as if they were fully under ground. The shitty thing though is that you don't need detection to hit them.

Is there a list of bugs somewhere that everyone can send to blizzard to fix?

Specifically the download ## glitch, and the black game join list hang screen, and the glitch that makes units freeze when you issue to many commands (this glitch happens to me like every game that I use lings and try to surround units).

BTW:
as you can see this bug rarely happens, few in a thousand collisions in the map. So the useabilities of this bug is unlikely.

However the cause of this bug is that SC has this acceleration function, either a bug or intended. When units stuck trying to pass each other, they will move faster in order to go to the other side quicker. Sometimes they mirror each other's movements and the result is them not passing each other, but continue to travel at the accelerated speed in the direction that is perpenticular with their intended path.

So yaeh... if you want to use this bug in real game... good luck ramming zealots into each other and hope they shoots off in the right direction in about a thousand collisions.

This has happened to me many times when I first started out as a money-map player.

It always happens when I have a big group of zealots bunched together or patrolling a horizontal area. Then, all of a sudden, a couple zealots will run down the map super fast. It's weird.

A large group of hydralisks does the same trick. I might have seen it with marines, not sure.

marines have a tougher time doing it considering that they move at such a slow pace they seem to get "past" eachother more often than zealots and hydras, try doing that experiment with reavers im sure it would be quite entertaining

Only horizontal/vertical collisions work it seems. Diagnol collision produces horizontal/vertical slides instead of diagnal slides.
