Assuming you're talking about Iccup:

op Teamliquid

Ladder D-C (you can ask players for custom games, bo3/bo5 or so; it's the most crowded channel)

Maybe there are others, but:

With 300-400 people online at good times, 'active' is relative in BW these days.
Apart from the Ladder D-C channel, I haven't seen a channel with more than 5-10 people on a regular basis in a loooong time... - but you can have games almost always within seconds/minutes if you know how to.
Don't expect channels overflowing with new players like in newer games. If you're a real newbie in BW, in the broad picture of gaming, you're pretty much an endangered species... almost extinct xD, we all here are fighting to change that tho + Show Spoiler +
except for dem dirty smurfin' noob bashers, but they're just half of the community or so....
.

I'd say the key is to

a) be able to host (for ladder games) and

b) to have a good friends-list. (add people by typing /f add "playername"; show your list by /f list; show who's online by /f online)

Maybe check out the Practice Partners Thread and register there, then people on your level might notice and contact you.
Apart from that, try the channels above or others or browse open games ("custom" or "melee" mean they're unranked matches). Whisper (/w "message") to anyone you want to play more with or learn from or want to add to your f-list for whatever reason, over time there will always be someone online to play a few games against.
Maybe don't look out for D- games only, you can catch up to D, maybe D+ quickly if you play a lot, and you learn faster by playing against better players. A lot of them are friendly and willing to help you, and the better you get, the more fun you have. Maybe you can find a Coach, too.

Basically what he's saying is that there are no active channels for newbies and friendly games

You can always check the opponents profile before a match if you want to avoid being beat up, or just go on Ladder D-C and check peoples profiles too. Look for people that are true D- or D (can't get out after lots of games). Avoid people with great records (10-2, 9-1 etc), and accounts that have no games played in previous seasons but have a positive record of any sort (smurfs)

Use the function /f a nameofplayer to add friends, that way you can check if the noobies you found are online and ask them for games, regardless of them adding you

I'm a Korean playing Broodwar over 10 years so far and playing Zerg.

it is a quite simple question.

If a lurker burrowed and under swarm, nothing could kill it as Terran units except for Firebat, irradiate, nuclear.

The lurker question was asked a long time ago (in 2011). It specifies that there's a single lurker, so no other units are there to cause splash damage. However, if there are multiple units, then yes, splash damage can kill it.

The way it works is that attacks by the Siege Tank actually get offset by Dark Swarm about 1 to 1/2 "units" (if thinking about it in FS = 128x128units perspective) and it does so radially. I just don't remember if it is offset inside (nearer to the tank) or outside (farther from the tank). Basically, if a targeted Zergling or other unit is standing 1-1/2 "units" away from the Lurker, and the Siege Tank is in a straight line with the Zergling and Lurker, then the Lurker will actually eat a pretty decent amount of damage.

Tank splash has no effect on burrowed lurkers under swarm as far as I can tell. If its a direct hit it does full damage to the lurker but any other lurker burrowed within the normal range of the splash takes no damage. However its possible to 'direct hit' more than one lurker at a time if they overlap the small radius at the center of the tank's hit.

Here's a trivia for you: how to use d-matrix to kill an opponent unit faster?

Does it actually matter if the unit under swarm is burrowed or not?

Can't believe I'm not sure after testing this a dozen times now, but I think all the units that take damage under swarm, burrowed or not, take the full damage.

Like: Under swarm, the game treats it as if the shot never hit something where it should, thus splash is not 'activated', burrowed or not. (?)

But the direct hit that doesn't hit anything where it should in fact doesn't hit anything there by getting miss-placed - and does do it's direct damage where it got miss-placed at - possibly to multiple targets, but no splash, because the game only checks another location for whether it should activate splash.

Or am I still getting this wrong?

Seems like ZeroChrome is correct.

Not under swarm:
Splash damage works normally, everyone takes it's fair share

Under swarm:
Burrowed units don't take splash. They can, however, take full damage by being overlapped with the center of the unit being shot at, unless it's another burrowed unit in which case they take no damage. Unburrowed units take full splash even when the target is a burrowed one

From this it seems that trying to shoot your own units to splash should mostly be done when not under swarm

Honestly I don't even know anymore. I went to test again right now and am getting different results. Back when I was doing my videos I found that you could go through Protoss shields by d-matrix'ing the unit, so if the unit had low HP you could kill it in less hits, but I can't seem to reproduce anymore. Could be unit specific or a bug in the test map I was using

D-Matrix + Irradiate.

In a split map situation (6v6 or 6v5 bases in favour of zerg) on fighting spirit, ZvT, terran is meching. He has a line of turrets around his main and new main preventing drops. Do you just type gg?

How to deal with these turret lines... I want to make guardians but irradiate would just take them out and if not, there's no place to lay siege to the edges of a main base without goliaths just wrecking you. Feels bad man.

build 21 queens, use sparse numbers of defiler lurker ling to hold him off until you get energy, throw out some parasites with one queen, clone 10 then 10 broodlings on tanks from one of the bases, follow up with throwing everything you have of ultra ling defiler towards that base

Much easier said than done obviously, but broodling feels essential for dealing with turtly mech players, and if you manage to remove 15-20 tanks from the equation then terran will pretty much always be lacking of units in some area.
