since terran can only get 200 supply he cant have a lot of bcs along with tons of tanks while also having the other stuff, either mass devourer/mutas with many scourges vs his bcs or mass hydra/ling with defiler support and possible ultralisk drops on top of his tanks.

I'd say stall with dark swarm+lurkers and use plague liberally on any clump of units you can get to. Mean while do drops to destroy his production/economy so he can't replenish once you manage to whittle down his army.

Back in SC vanilla, and prior to the 1.04 patch, is it true that Overlords had to buy an upgrade at Lair level in order to be detectors?

Heard this from someone recently, can't remember if it's true or not, and I was playing the game back then too.

Does anyone know a good solid safe PvP build? I usually go 1 gate robo 2nd gate with my cyber core on 13 like in PvT (but I noticed the liquipedia article suggests getting a zealot on 13 and core on 18). If I scout a fast citadel or something I'll get obs first, otherwise shuttle then a reaver. Also I'll skip the robo if he's going 2 gate and get a 2nd gate first to defend, but I'm still dying to a lot of random stuff like 4 gate goon. What are the usual timings for goon range, +1 attack, leg speed, and storm- I don't understand how to transition into late game from 2 bases.

my personal favourite is dt fast expand
you get to be aggressive at the start while getting a good economy at the same time. just need to be careful of any reaver timing pushes.

also, goon range is gotten pretty asap. like as soon as you have gas for it, unless you go for a build that specifically needs the gas elsewhere (dt)
forge is built when you build the templar archives (2 fully saturated bases). speed vs +1 depends on what you need at the time. if you expect the game to stall a bit, get +1 first and try and fight before the opponents +1 timing. otherwise, you can get speed and try to push with reavers. depends on the game really
i normally get storm when i plan on getting my 3rd base as well. if it doesnt look like i can get my 3rd base up soon, i opt for archons more than storm for a quicker army which will help me either fight or secure my 3rd.

note that the above timings are for reaver openings. with a fast dt expand all the upgrades come a little faster at the expense of reavers. storms are gotten asap because they are your only line of defense vs reavers, and even when they are gotten asap you only have like 1 or 2 storms by the time the opponent comes knocking

No official dates released yet, though there are some related show matches held regularly (lovetv sponsored matches and sbenu super fights, check them out in BW tourney section).

Though by how things are going, expect to see them happening early next year.

I know we don't see a lot of hydras in TvZ, but when there are hydras on the field, does anyone have success focus-firing hydras vs marine-medic?

Seems like that'd be a good way to negate medic healing, if one hydra group volley just insta-kills the marine.

Of course a ling surround is better vs marine-medic, ditto lurkers. But it seems like there are oddball situations where Z has hydras in play (2-port wraith). When that does happen, any success in focus-fire hydras vs M&M, in your experience?

idk, a control group of MnM could easily handle a control group of hydras using stim. But i've lost to hydras before tho

calm use to play this fast lurker style and then in the lategame transition into hydra plague defiler to deal with drops and it was super sick, after hes on like 4+ gas he just go mass ultra ling to close the game out

What are the disadvantages of scouting against a Zerg by going to the natural 3rd first on Fighting Spirit? I sometimes see players scout in a diamond like formation under the assumption Zerg will be scouting with their overlord in a clockwise direction. One disadvantage is if the Zerg decides not to scout clockwise they might not scout the Zerg. Is it any longer than scouting normally? How many natural thirds can you go to before the zerg overlord has already passed the sight of a scout by the time a scout arrives at a natural third? I hope my question made sense. z.z

i mean fighting spirit. If someone were to go directly to the 3 O'clock, 6 O'clock, 9 O'clock, and 12 O'clock expansions it'd form the diamond shape I was talking about. Hope that cleared it up.

Well I've seen lots of replays of protoss scouting thirds to look for an overlord and im pretty sure it times out properly with forge fe that they wont fuck up there opening unless the z does weird overlord scouting.

As for T I haven't seen it in replays but I would guess if you scout on like 8 it could be a good strategy because it would give you the potential for a fast ebay block versus 12 hatch and you should be able to scout with only a single scv without having to play it too safe.

Personally I always scout counter clockwise versus zerg and then double scout the next base if there is no indicator of zergs position from the first scout. This is probably the safest and most reliable way of doing it.

Also you are talking about scouting the shit third first rather than the more obvious third because zergs usually send there overlords clockwise and this will only be helpful for you if you scout the worse third. I think watching a few replays and doing it a bit on your own and seeing if you lose to 9 pool or anything like that will answer all of your questions
