I have been wondering for a long time if there is an efficient way for protoss players to position their hand on the keyboard for the hotkeys. For example, with zerg people usually have their ring finger on s and they pivot off of that for 5sz6sz7sz8sz9sz0sz.

I downloaded this one handed typing tutor and found out that the honerow keys for one hand are fghj. So I thought why not use the ring finger on b for Build Pylon and then switch to the middle finger for bgbfbc and use the index finger for ba. I find finding and practicing a method for two handed touch typing ws very benificial, and maybe someone can pass tips over to me for protoss?

Early game I usally have my ring finger on 1 for scout, and my index finger on 4 (main nexus). For macroing out of hotkeyed gateways, I use my middle and index fingers to press 5,6,7... and my ring finger to press D for goons and my pinky to press Z for zealots. To build I usually use my index to press B (when building gateways), or my pinky to press B (when building pylons).

To cycle through my nexuses for probe production on mid-game (2 expos), I usually double tap 4 with my index, build probe, then F3 with my middle finger to go to other expo, then F4 with my middle or index to go to my second expo.

edit: and there goes my 1337 post!

I keep my hand easily accessible to all areas of the keyboard and my hand is really small. F keys are for nexus, than i jump to P than I go to 56 gateways and then 1a2a3a4a for units and then back to F keys all in a nice little circle

Well, saying that putting nexus on 123 is right, but only for qwerty keyboards, for an azerty, ti's recommended to use 1234 for units/gates/nexus, 'cause of S/C/D's proximity.
It depends of what type is ur keyboard.

anyone use 0/9/8 for the main nexus/expo/third?
its very useful because 0p9p8p is so easy to tap for me. then probe scout goes on 5 which i can hit with my pinky.

i am not talkin about the numbers, I was inquiring about how to position my fingers inorder to build pylons, gateways, cannons and recall control groups efficiently.

Your hand should be hanging around the left side of your keyboard. Exact positioning doesn't matter because your hand will be moving around the keyboard. I would recommend putting tape or something on the '0' key or something, because you'll be constantly going back to it, and mis-presses aren't fun. The only time when your hand should be on the right side of the keyboard is when you need to build a probe or a pylon.

When you macro, you want 4-7 as your Gateways. Keep your pinky on Z, and use whatever finger feels comfortable for 4-7 (Pointer would probably be best so you have your middle finger on D).

8 should be your robo since it's close to the 'o' key.

1-3 should be enough for units early to mid game.

Well they FOR sure dont click the probe icon. Iv seen enough FPVODS to know that. And besides 4p is alot faster than 4 click

for pylong i use my thumb for b and pivot index over to p.

I usually keep a finger on 1 and another on 3 (main nexus and first army grouping), then i have two fingers in the air because i have to press 9 and 0 along with p very quickly. Finally, having my hand like this makes it very easy to press b and v with my thumb.

I move my hands while playing. It makes me able to reach the most keys.

No, but really. Just play the way you feel confortable with, when playing enough games you wont even think of how you put your hand it'll just feel natural. Dont think there are any good shourtcuts or a "correct" way to make you faster like you seem to be looking for.
