this sparked my interest since i suck immensely.

can anyone give some tips on what exactly good tvz metal is (early on especially), i.e. vult gol tank ? anyone have experience in this area? i can't say i've seen it enough to know where to start or how it works.

im a noob too but i use metal tvz alot cuz its easier for me

i have a few simple strats, 1. go 1 rax, 4 rine or so and bunker outside (on lotem etc) with an early exp (gas exp), it tends to work ok seeing a zerg wont ling rush etc... from there tech up adding facts and usually i have an earlish ebay for turrets seeing a zerg will often pull muta rush v. expanding terran.

or go for the 1 rax wraith/vult rush... other day i quick tech to dropship and dropped 4 vults in the guys main, mines to slow hydra down and cleaned his drones... if u can also combine with a later tank on ledge (this is lotem, other maps u might/might not be able to do) and combine with vult harass i think u can slow a zerg down enough to get en expand up and start a hardout goli/tank army

i suggest that u check out the 1st game of iloveoov vs yellow on mbc final. it was a very good tutorial for tvz metal.

u know a good bunkerrush is most likely the best way to open if ur gonna mech vs Z. Barack in midlle of map or something. On temple u could complete ur wal with a fac if its needed. But u only need 1 bunker and couple marines/3 scv to do damage early on. Or just fake with a bunker u know. Send a scv pretty early and build a bunker at his exp. We all know Mech vs 1 base zerg is good so he might cancel hatch :o.

I used to do this in vanilla for a while. There are a few options, a sexy one is opening with speedvulture - run past his D and rape drones. Or even drop the vultures and follow up with gollie drop.

Goliath is countered by muta or hydra so throw in valks and tanks..

easy way to learn is to pick up some reps from that insanely boring canadian t .. i dont remeber his name=)

the problem is getting goliath, valks and tanks altogether is too resource intensive.

tvz metal is highly dependant on fast second gas if you are metal from the start. i like to research spider mines right away and make 2-3 vults while using a wraith to kill as many overlords as possible to slow down the mutas a bit. the spider mines are of course to keep those lings away. its amazing how many lings will die if they activate a spider mine.

getting that second gas will allow you to go straight into 4-6 factory gol production and throw in a valk or 2 if he is making lots of mutas.

i found most of the time zerg will just switch to hydra / lurker when they see you are making gols at a furious pace at which point you just start making tanks. if you dont get a second gas and do not do something to slow zerg gown very early, you are in big trouble.

you also need 4 marines or so early.

I think its a fair strat yea getting ur gas exp is crucial when zerg has 2 gas. I realize the zerg will still have the advantage but its not a hopeless game.

Didn't read any of the posts here, but I only (or mainly) play metal vs. zerg, because my micro sucks more than a hooker that specializes in oral sex. Really, the only thing I can micro is a pair of wraiths and a valk, and that's just what I do.

Basically, I go 2 fact, then valk+wraith, harass as much I can, then just overrun him with tanks+gollies+vults+1-2 vessels and expo like NTT.

Yes, I put it in the CD drive each time you AIM me for a helping of whoop-ass. I think aside from you, I've only played 1 game of BW in the last couple of months. I'm done. Stick a fork in me.

With that said, I played metal vs zerg for a very long time. It isnt what I prefer these days but getting a second gas quickly is crucial. Spider mines work really great to hold off ground forces early.

I forgot to mention that the first wraith that comes out has two purpose. One is to kill overlords, secondly to discover if zerg is going muta or hydra opening. 99% of good zerg open with muta vs metal.

hm so rax first, try to bunker if they 12 hatch, and then get .. 2 fac vults, mines first? or get a quick wraith to see their build and kill lords then get the mines?

do NOT expand quick to get 2nd gas
you have to outplay them at some point
with metal, it is sooner rather than later
get gols and outplay them from jump
it's harder
it pays off less in the short term
but 120 supply metal is game ending
