Nbs.... Really?
I trust the CJ staff on this, but they need a win and if they get they guarantee a spot in the WL Finals without having to play to get there. Though if Luxury All-Kills, KTF might get the first seed (or even Hwaseung.
|
CJ coach on crack rofl. If KTF wins and drop more than 1 game than CJ has a higher seed than them. CJ auto seeded into championship if they win.
|
Well, the two playoff days indicates that there will be no "seeds" for the teams that make the cutoffs, so no harm in playing Nbs.
|
What the hell is up with eSTRO and Wemade sending a terran out for the opener when it's played on Medusa?.. And it's not even like a cannon fodder terran, it's Nada and Up.
|
damn, ggplay has to play against his return game against kal, a known zerg killer. ggplay has been doing really poorly as of late and could've used a few easy games to get his confidence back on track. ggplay's a pimp and seems like a nice guy, it'll suck to see him go down on his second winner league's game.
|
|
Its 3rd seed vs 4th seed, then winner vs 2nd seed, then winner vs 1st seed. So yes harm in playing NBS.
|
Bisu will trounce Nada unfortunately, the only Terran on the planet who can beat Bisu there is Flash.

it's the way it was with the last proleague, we can only assume it'll be the same this time

I think it's clear Coach Cho doesn't care as much about what seed he gets as he just wants to get in his veterans who have not played in quite some time. This was already apparent when he played Much to lead off against ACE. May not be the smart thing to do in regards to the playoffs, but I don't mind. Classy move in my opinion.
|
Okay, CJ is almost guaranteed the first seed at this point anyways.
|
Bisu vs Nada- What an epic matchup. New Guard v. Old Guard.
|
Bisu, Nada, Upmagic, Reach, and Luxury all starting off their respective matches? I don't know why but that makes me feel really uneasy. Estro, ACE, and KTF arguably only have on other solid player to get them out if they fall in trouble.
Losing train of though...epic matches! Show me epic matches!

Ugh, GGPlay's gonna get wrecked by Kal.
If Stars and SKT both end up at 7-4 tied for 4th, is the tiebreaker head to head (Stars win) or game differential (SKT wins)? If multiples teams are tied for 4th, I assume the tiebreaker is game differential? Any game differential breaker hurts Stars, sadly...

At least in regular season the tiebreaker is #1) Game differential, #2) if GD is tied, then a 1-game playoff match is held for the spot. I don't know the exact rule on tiebreakers though since WL doesn't necessarily go by the overall PL rules.

CJ Takes #1 Seed outright if ... ... CJ wins. ... OZ loses. ... CJ loses 2-4 and OZ wins 4-3. ... CJ loses 3-4 and OZ wins 4-3 or 4-2.
OZ Takes #1 Seed outright if ... ... CJ loses 0-4 and OZ wins. ... CJ loses 1-4 and OZ wins 4-2, 4-1, or 4-0. ... CJ loses 2-4 and OZ wins 4-1 or 4-0. ... CJ loses 3-4 and OZ wins 4-0.
Tiebreaker needed to determine #1 Seed if ... ... CJ loses 1-4 and OZ wins 4-3. ... CJ loses 2-4 and OZ wins 4-2. ... CJ loses 3-4 and OZ wins 4-1.
So clearly if CJ loses 2-4 or worse then they could be in serious trouble.
Edit: Crap, KTF being in striking distance kind of messes this up even more. Give me a second to go through this again taking them into account.
|
Why would they send out Nada on Medusa vs. SKT.
Whyyyy

Screw it, I don't have the energy to work KTF into the equation when it comes to seeding. All I know is that CJ better not lose 1-4/0-4 because bad things can happen, and if CJ loses 1-4 and OZ wins 4-3 then we're gonna have a three-way clusterfuck to see who gets the number one seed.

lol for fantasy proleague, the #1 guy has Kal and Savior, the #2 guy has Free and Yellow, and STX is playing Woongjin and we might actually see Kal vs Free, which could decide the winner of it because they are only separated by one point.
|
Stats are fine, but when you "give" CJ a game advantage for the first spot, they're most likely going to keep it for a week of games, even if they start with Nbs.
|
Isn't the first place for WL solely dependent on the CJ/KTF game? In the case that KTF wins, they'll hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over both CJ and Oz. Oz doesn't have a chance unless ties are broken by points and not by head-to-head: their three losses have been to CJ, KTF, and SKT1.

It really depends on how fast KTF sends out Flash and how well he does.

what are you nerds talking about nbs gonna all kill ez

I wanna see free vs july and hero.

CJ vs. KTF will be interesting, hoping Luxury takes 2-3 games and then having Flash clean up. If Luxury fails.... o god.

This is the last week right ? In my opinion the winners league has been a huge success that should seriously be considered as the permanent style.
|
|
Hiya probably wont beat Light, if Sea decided to "show up", he wont win him either. And strangely Jaehoon has actually won atleast 1 match his last 2 outings.
|
Will be interesting if UpMagic can beat a Khan toss on Medusa thats not Stork or Jangbi.
|
KTF knows they're within striking distance, which means they shouldn't just be trying to win, but rather should be trying to win ASAP. KTF coaches may be retarded but they should be able to do simple math. If Luxury gets beat, they should send out Flash. They should be aiming for 4-0 or 4-1 here.
CJ should be smart and realize this as well, which means we'll see some Lux/Flash sniper preparation, possibly even in the early rounds (if they expect Flash to go second like I do).
CJ vs KTF is going to be reaaaaaaally interesting.

Is this the last week of the Winners League only or of the whole ShinHan Bank ProLeague?
|
How does the WL playoff relate to the bigger picture? Is it just like a separate league altogether, or does it give an advantage when the Proleague playoffs come around.

The Winners League playoffs mean nothing in relation to the rest of the ProLeague season. Games are not counted into team game differentials, they aren't added to overall season stats, and winning the WL playoffs gives no advantages later on in the PL season.

The wins/losses and game differential of the regular non-playoff WL games will count towards the ranking at the end of the PL season though.

Top 4 make it.

SKT doing the right thing and sending out their best players against a sub par WeMade team, SKT needs to win to have any hope of playoffs.
|
It would be so horribly disappointing if Hiya goes from beating Jangbi and Stork to losing to Jaehoon of all people.

nbs is in [gm] so he's obviously good ;P
maybe he's been performing well in practice?

His practice performance probably had little to no bearing on him playing this week. Quite simply CJ is guaranteed a playoff spot, and Coach Cho is willing to play a veteran who never sees the light of day anymore at the cost of dropping down a seed.
Round 5 of Proleague is going to be interesting for this same reason because some teams may be locked into a playoff seed/eliminated long before the end of the season. The last few weeks may be filled with old veterans who we never thought would play a match again or total neophites who are just in to get some experience.

Well I think its safe to say that Ace is done.

To begin, a win puts CJ in the finals outright.
2 individual games won puts CJ ahead of KTF. A loss less than 4:3 and an OZ win better than 4:3 puts OZ ahead of CJ, a loss and an OZ loss puts CJ ahead of OZ. CJ is ahead of Woongjin no matter what. CJ is ahead of SKTT1 no matter what.

That's 14 more weeks to play when the WL playoffs conclude. This would mean the PL regular season would conclude in early July, barring any break periods (I'd be willing to bet there may be a week off after the Starleagues finish and WL playoffs finish though). Anyways, after that you would have four more weeks for the actual PL playoffs, putting the end of the '08-'09 PL season in early August.
