Like I mentioned, I think it sucks that the commentators have their hands tied (so to speak) when talking. The Star player should at least close the stream during the game and allow the commentators to comment. The Star player should be able to play a decent game even at a disadvantage, and the 300+ listeners (remember, lots of people had trouble with the stream and only got audio) would have something to listen to. It doesnt even need to be hard analysis or anything; it could just be a play-by-play kinda thing as the action unfolds (like "red doom drops in the protoss main, but teal responds with massive storms") or maybe quips and trivia about the player and so on. Thats probably what I feel is the biggest issue: commentators not talking enough. There were good laughs in there, but it felt too quiet, even with the game music turned on after the second game. Other little things: - I was irked when I see action going on in the mini-map, but the streaming was just clicking on buildings being built. Didnt happen too often, but that still bothers me. - inc's mic was too low. Not really an issue, in the future, Star players should check their equipment beforehand. Summary: - commentators need to talk more - obs/streamer, great job, keep up on the in-game action - star player, turn off stream but stay on vent, for less "dicking around" games overall, a great first episode though

That's the only way I can see it working, and it introduces some complications like us hitting the wrong button to talk to the wrong people. Maybe it's worthwhile testing, I'm not sure.

i don't think it'll be good to have him be able to talk to us and us not be able to talk to him, the banter between the hosts and the star player is one of the attractive things about the event

You are talking about some magical filter where he can talk to us and we can't talk to him but we can still talk to Kennigit. While this filter may exist (like him locally muting us), what's even the point of havnig him talk then? And he doesn't even know if we're talking? He just randomly cuts in and talks over us? ...

They wouldn't necessarily commentate the entire game but just say the stuff like "his timing is off here" or "fuck it im ending this now", while the commentators do what commentators do.

You can record a vent convo, too btw, and overlay it onto a vod.

The other poster wanted us to give full commentary without giving anything to either player, which is impossible if we also want to be able to have conversations with the star.

I dont know why people are giving you shit then, to me thats the best way to do it. Try the alternate DL link. The first one didn't work for me either, but second worked fine!

Open 2 instances of vent, and just have different hotkeys for each instance. You alluded to it before, but I just wanted to tell you that you don't need TS to make it work. Can work pretty easily. Used to use it for a few games, guild wars, dota, cs 1.6 etc.

There were a lot of periods of silence and it lacked some flow. It'd be cool also if you put a big more emotion into the commentary. I know this can be tough for some, but a few of had very low and monotonous voices which was a bit at times. It's a great concept though and it'll no doubt get better with time. Live casting games is hard so it should become easier the more you do it.

1. the player gets a mic so we can banter better with him 2. the vision stuff gets resolved so we can get excited without revealing anything

Follow his posts.. the dude flames and is a bitch to these forums for the majority of his sub 200 posts.. make em go through the trouble of a new name rofl Haha I've been thinking this for like 1-2 pages already. The icing on the cake was when he said something like 'three fags on ventrillo and two idiots spamming each other, or something like that. My guess is, the mods were a bit worried (perhaps subconsciously) they would look like abusers if they banned the guy who claimed they were mistreating his ideas... but it would probably be 100% justified Edit: I also agree that you should consider removing vision from the newbie player. This makes it more like bnet attack, save the fact that the announcers will still be using observer mode so to speak... but I think that's a reasonable change.

With that said, I agree with the viewers not being able to see the "newb" player, but I'm not sure how you could do that.

Like I was mentioning earlier, you could do it the way bnet attack does it, meaning you look at the player's screen, rather than use ums. The only problem with that is, like someone mentioned earlier, you have to stare at like 350 apm. The alternative is to use ums like someone said earlier, and just tell the newbie to unvision, or even make a map which only gives vision for the skilled player...
