Pretty sure that's why Sc2 looks so boring the recent years cause it is all macro maps and they allow map banning even when new maps are introduced It also allows strats to kinda evolve | ||

been saying this for decades on TL forums. since BW does not get balancing, the best (and only) way to balance and advance strategies is to have interesting and diverse maps. i really dislike being able to ban maps in tournaments, because hell, might as well put 7 maps of Fighting Spirit for every series, right? | ||

Glad to see him being open to such maps. At least ASL is open to such maps as well to break the monotony. Hope that next season we get to see more of maps (just make sure it isn't something like sparkle) | ||

Most of the times there's some optimal way to play these maps which gives a big advantage to one of the races. So when these maps are played in a tournament, one of the players is burdened with a mindset of "this is unwinnable". Its not right to try to evaluate these maps from the few games we get to see in ASL, because what we see there is mostly series preparation. You have to think of the hundreds of practice games where the stats are 80:20 or sth like that. Roaring Currents is in that sense a big big exception to the rule, where all matchups turned out to be mostly balanced. | ||
