It wouldn't be bad to make some low level hybrids that just have some kind of mid-range changes. And of course there's no reason not to be a little eccentric with one or two maps. Even something like a 192x128 wouldn't be bad. Korea is by far the biggest market and playerbase. It makes 0 sense for Blizzard to ignore it, it is also home to the only professional scene. Having standard maps is a must for any serious and somewhat long tournaments (by that I mean not a weekend or day tour), always has been and always will be. There are several tournaments and for fun leagues with strange or experimental maps, NSL being the biggest at the moment, and weekend or 2 week cups can also fill the space with a fast rotating mappool. That s where the fun is, ladder should be mostly non controversial and easy to run for blizzard since they clearly dont want to spend any resource. Running the risk of having absolutely broken maps for possibly a year is unacceptable, the novelty would wear off fast. Hell even on 3 months long tournament people ask for new maps then complain about the same maps they themselves chose 3 weeks in (BWCL, among others). The other solution is for a community run ladder, like fish or iccup before but it takes resources, it s also difficult on bnet without blizzard tacit agreement. SB is trying but the numbers arent quite there and I m not sure there will ever be enough. Finally, a different approach for every one who likes new and exotic map is to run your own tournaments. We need more admins anyway and running a short term tournament isnt actually very complicated, it is also a good way to get engaged in the community. Looking forward to action and not words~ (note I m not singling you out here, it is my actual wish that more people join the dwindling ranks of BW admins in the foreign scene AND that we get fun maps in fun tours often)

Looks like someone is trying really hard to push the conversation into a dead end by irrelevant posts/commemts.

For me personally, I hope Blizzard starts to take more of an interest in itself again. At the end of the day, I don't see myself getting really interested in things aren't straightforward. I would like Blizzard to manage the map pool because I won't be playing things that aren't automated by battle.net edit: I imagine it takes only moments for them to put in place new maps. That they don't do it is weird. They released remastered and then sort of took a hands free approach to things. It seems like 8 hours of work is probably more than enough to put new maps in place. And, of course, Korean map makers could be involved.

And, of course, Korean map makers could be involved. New map pools require a patch, and they have no staff dedicated to SC:R. This means every time they do this, a new person has to figure out/learn all the steps in the process from whatever documentation exists, since the people that created the process are long gone (and there's like a 50/50 shot that they screw something up and leave things messed up for weeks until someone from the community can get ahold of anyone to fix it). I'm not sure if the "not straightforward" stuff is directed at SB, but SB is really a 1-click process for the vast majority of people (just download and install it) and we have matchmaking that is as simple to use as Blizzard's, so I'm not sure where you'd get the idea that it's complicated.
