Do you know of Korean videos that are not behind a paywall but that would need a translation/are only in Korean?

I mean, if you know Korean there is a lot of great free content available, Best, Rush, Sacsri, etc but.. what I mean with paywall is that I'm looking for contributors that want to join the project and help with voluntary donations crowdfunding and dividing among us the competitive rate of translation we offer and pay our translators, translation services are not free but together we divide costs and make things happen, translated guides are only available to contributors, since again translation service is not free. Even if the guide where original free of access for Koreans only but not translated, English content is only available after donation, that keeps projects alive, otherwise and based on experience I can tell u it gets full of freeloaders and entitled people that want to consume the English content but don't have any interest on help with a single minute of translation.

If it is free guides on youtube and you are translating those, that falls under fair use laws. But then you cant paywall that but can ask for monetary support through donations or non paywalled subscription for extra features. The original creator can still do takedown requests if the IP overlaps.

The term paywall is just being throw here lightly as a matter of speaking, what we do is exactly what you describe ask for monetary support through donations with the caveat that we only share the translated content among those that donate, there is no subscription nor recurring fee, anything is voluntary, including joining the project. All donations cover costs of the next translation and all money is completely expended into translation services, no one other than the translators being paid a fair rate for the great work they do have a for-profit goal out of this, anyway thanks for mansplaining I don't even know what you mean with a non paywalled subscription for extra features but I'm not here for the unsolicited legal advice, worst case I'll upload project on a video service based on one of those BRICS countries.

Lots of good articles on namu/ygosu who are like TL in a way. So if you have some links/names to youtube channelsthat are free in Korean I might consider helping with the translation or just even making quick summary of those. It would be cool to have a TL centralised series of free links to Korean content too to youtube because a) it ll help those players getting more views and b) it would also help maybe more korean speakers help you for better visibility. There are several in the KR scene as well as several foreigner with decent enough understanding to be able to do a summary. I used to be on the discord you mention in the OP but it was extremely chaotic and limited (personal opinion).

True, protoss project was a mess, is all different now, this is like 3rd time it got reset with different people admin things, originally I was only doing Zerg, there we have more than 60 translations already with more to come, I plan todo the same with toss, hopefully if you join us you'll see the changes, the extreme chaotic days are gone, now we focus on translating.

Even if the guide where original free of access for Koreans only but not translated. You must be able to weed out the irrelevant information when you are receiving so much of it. I also suggest that you employ as many time-saving, high-quality applications as you can. I suggest using the website email translation services to translate, for instance, technical support letters and marketing emails. This high-quality and quick email translation service supports over 90 language pairs. English content is only available after donation, that keeps projects alive, otherwise and based on experience I can tell u it gets full of freeloaders and entitled people that want to consume the English content but don't have any interest on help with a single minute of translation. Now the crisis and people can be understood, not everyone has the means to pay for such things.

So.. it's paywalled. Just because you call it a donation, doesn't change that according to your text you have to pay ("donate") in order to get access to the content. In other words: you're selling someone else's copyrighted work, probably without their explicit permission. If you in fact do not have permission to make money ("pay translators for their hard work"), you and everyone involved can be liable. It's also not moral to do. I've summed this up last year already, when there was a very similar case. It made jinjin realise that it's not the way to go, hopefully you will realise the same (if you do in fact not have approval from the original content creators and copyright holders): https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/583184-translated-korean-bw-guides-discords?page=2#21
