Though perhaps progamers may want to negotiate for changes in rules that were not-so-friendly towards them since the Kespa years.

A progaming house would give those who are in one a very significant advantage, such that those "free spirits" will start to be crowded out. If you just compare the level of play in ZvT of 2012 vs today, you see how much higher the skill ceiling became. Current lategame ZvT is WAY more multitasking focused due to the meta switch. If anything I see an increase in skill. Don't make it as if they all are at the skill level of 2004

I really hope that it happens, watching clips of BW matche, knowing Boxer even though I didnt play melee growing up and being intrigued by "professional gaming" is truly what guided me into esports. I would love for SKT/KT and other teams to develop a rekindling of the BW scene, and if SC:R is really a huge success in Korea and gamers there really embrace it, then who knows? The only teams I could see making BW teams in Korea would be SKT, KT, CJ, and maybe Afreeca Freecs. Jin Air could but they would probably have to drop most SC2 players to compensate for team/Proleague. The rest of KR's teams are mostly tied to LoL and have no previous history in RTS.

If BW is going to stay viable long term it will need new stars. I'm all for new team houses to create the next round of talent. TBLS is only going to maintain the scene for so long.

These guys have so much freedom now, there is no way they would go back into teamhouses i think. But yeah let's wait for a translation first What about lower tier player who does not make that much money out of streaming? I'm sure they would soon be beating Flash and Last if they had professional training.

Probably more likely to just ride the renaissance while it lasts tho. But if SC:R really takes off maybe they'll do something like that? For example in sc2, NaDa was in oGs but he didn't live in the team house, he had his own place and just came by to practice. Not unreasonable to do something like that I think... I cant imagine they would pay nearly as much as streaming does. Flash made 50k in February alone.... but its possible, by bw teams "coming back", they dont go the full 9 yards with the coaches and the teamhouse, but just give them money to wear the jersey to tournaments. Similiar to how western teams pay for FGC pros.

This is certainly possible, but at the same time I think it's worth noting that amateur players relative performances haven't risen. For amateurs that weren't practice partners I would think that level of skill would be similar now as to 8 years ago. It's not as if amateurs played 12 hours a day back then and now are playing 3. In this case, we would expect the skill gap between amateurs and pro's to have decreased. Unfortunately amateurs don't play that many games versus the KeSPA pro's in this new era, but my sense is that when it comes to non ex pro (amateur) vs KeSPA ex pro the amateur players are still getting bopped hard. I absolutely think that saying "shadow of their former peak" is a major overstatement. It's possible the level is not as high as 2010, but if so I don't think you could take a random 2010 dude like a Sharp or Rush and expect him to 3-0 present day FlaSh.
