I wouldn't call being willing to sponsor a necessary engine for the game's growth, contingent on it being a reasonable business move, parasitic.

Haven't read much of the thread. But it will be weird if this actually happens.

Edit - KeSPA sponsoring only when the game booms. Not ideal for BW but such is the nature of business.

Oh well, SC2 proleague really is finished, so no matter what, half BW and half SC2 won't ever happen, I guess.

Regardless of whether we'll see teams or even kespa run teams, this is far more important. It's been talked about ever since the environment for bringing up new talent (courage -> team houses) was cut: Brood War needs new talent to survive long term, and small tournaments for amateurs are the best way to do that. Way back when BW was first starting it was the same, lot's of small local tourneys.

honestly id rather have the less skilled levels but sustainable and humane conditions for players to get long term survival of the esport. bringing in giant budgets and team houses will again inflate a bubble so big only to burst when viewership dips at some point since expectations will again be too immense to sustain. just make it half as big as it used to but sustainable so everybody is happy, players can somewhat play for a living now (streaming revs), i dont want to mess that up
