I'm surprised all the people in here are so mad about the iu.. yeah there are small missing features, but can't you overlook your nostalgia of the old iu and move on? For anyone who has not used the old ui for years and can navigate it quickly, the old ui was dated and dogshit, be honest. New players will enjoy it so much. Some people have really think skin... Blizzard makes the game possible for new players to play without going through ghetto launchers and plugins, they make the game possible to play without the network issues, OS issues, color issues, ect. and all act like it's the end of brood war. This is great! I'm sure they will patch out problems, they aren't leaving the game how it is now.

In the end they're people, too. They just want to create a better environment for Broodwar old-timers and new-comers.

It's just that the broodwar battle.net chat experience was an experience in itself. It was something sorely missing from sc2. People would login just to talk trash, just to hang out. I would play broodwar every day after school but I wasn't gaming for the majority of that, I was hanging out in chat channels with my clan and watching 1v1s. It was a very social thing given that we were all sitting behind computer screens. Most modern games have really went away from this but it's genuinely the best part I can remember from playing broodwar. edit - I will add in, this is something that is probably only important to those of us that are 25+ years old. You young folk didn't grow up in the era of the chat room so it probably makes little to no sense that so many people are upset about the UI being changed. Without /f m and hangout channels broodwar would feel very lonely.

New UI is simply missing a lot of features.I dont care about the graphics as long as it is useful as previous one i.e You cant sort games by type. That's a MUST when there's more lobbies or choosing a slot in a lobby(UMS players MUST have) There's a lot more of it , somebody posted it before but I'm too lazy to look(sorry ![]()

Chat channels are absolutely not finished. Leaving a private channel every time going into a lobby, next to no functionality even while IN the channel itself. No real invite functions, lobby links. I'm all for maintaining the feel and gameplay of Brood War, but maintaining the feel and functionality of a UI designed in 2000 is just frustrating. The custom hotkeys are very convenient to be able to set, but the menu is just a block that doesn't even distinguish between the races when it comes to defining hotkeys. It is one big list with every hotkey in the game (including those not in multiplayer). It also is limited in options (like ctrl/alt/shift modifiers) but that is a deeper conversation. As for connection issues/graphics, it all seems relatively functional (especially considering many people are not in shouting range of california). The in game has some weird feels on the mouse/mouse acceleration especially in windowed fullscreen but nothing game breaking. If it was intentional to make a UI with not only the look of a 19 year old game but also the functionality of one then I guess that is something I'll have to accept, but if the intention was to modernize the out of game UI then it is quite lacking.

And yes I remember people complaining about sc2 having no chatrooms, we have them now in sc2 no? but they are dead as fuck because who cares.
