A random fastest map user Flash has been sparring against recently, and yes, fastest maps have their own meta-game and random people who have mastered that.

Protoss players such as Jaehoon and Bisu have shown great aptitude for fastest maps in the past (basically swept the entire niche scene that the fastest map community had back then), and I think Flash is trying to do something similar.

All games that are played by Flash on fastest are almost identical:
flash makes great defense , marines , bunkers , wraits etc
at 12 min mark - a drop , storm all scv
flash gg and rage !
he doesn't attack once

I suspect he raged so bad because his valkyries didn't shoot due to the sprite limit bug. But agreed, I'm not sure what his endgame strategy was in this case.

Seems to me Flash's success on fastest hasn't been too bad. I think in that game he was just messing around with Wraiths. He doesn't normally rely on a Wraith fleet for anti-air defense.

I have seen Flash offrace P and lose vs 458's T

I don't mean to argue with fastest being P-favored - just that fastest has a lot more complexity than its given. My understanding of high level fastest is limited to the handful of Flash games I've watched, but I understand the TvP game plan to go something like this:

1. Terran opens with X barracks to (a) ward off a gateway zealot flood opening or (b) pressure a nexus-eco opening and force cannons.

2. Protoss hits mid-game tech first and terran starts to ultra-mega-turtle. Bunkers filling the entire base, tanks at the front, turrets along the side (noteworthy is that it's a lot harder to defend drops in non-corner bases forcing more army to be made, delaying upgrades and tech).

3. Terran eventually makes their own way into starport tech and uses it either to defend drops(wraith valk like in the posted video above), or apply their own pressure with tank/spidermine drops. Not sure why firebats aren't incorporated there.

4. Terran eventually approaching max on mech and pushes out into the center which the protoss has cannoned. This either turns into a standard TvP lategame ground/arbiter/htdrop clash, except with limited space to maneuver favoring ), or the protoss player goes carriers.

The terran has to be ontop of their scouting to find out if there is a carrier transition. This is why Terrans get the starport - scout around the map, and then scan inside the protoss base. The terran matches with goliaths and tries to take a good engage. The terran goal is to kill the carriers and use their long production time to push into the protoss base and get ontop of their production and GG them out.

Some random things I've noticed:

- Terran has to sit inside of their base - it's almost impossible to expand to other mains for production room. I watched a 40 minute game where Flash tried and 458 mind controlled an scv and built his own tank army (supplemented by carriers). Flash held on pretty well for a while... but it was ugly.

- I'm not sure why Terrans dont open vulture - it achieves both of the purposes of the heavy rax builds. My thoughts are either (1) it's too vulnerable to fast zealot openings to be meta, or (2) mining gas delays your 2nd CC too long and you get destroyed midgame.

Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering.

Flash isn't even the best fastest map terran player at the moment.

Nobody is denying that fastest maps lack depth, but compared to orthodox maps they most certainly do. It is way easier to reach the pinnacle of fastest maps (as long as you main the protoss race) than it is to reach the apex with orthodox maps. The likes of Sea.KH and Jaehoon already proved that.
