just a few questions about SK terran ![]() 1. If my opponent somehow scouts/knows/guesses that I am going SK terran, and say one is stubborn and does not want to change his strategy to getting some early tanks for lurkers, is it still possible to go sk assuming he will most obviously try some sort of lurker/ling early and try to contain me? It seems pretty difficult to pull off early without like some high class m&m micro T_T 2. People say you need high apm to do this, :/ in terms of quantifying/qualitatively assessing, why does this require such high multitask? trying hard not to play into the apm game, but can someone with say 100 apm pull this off against someone of equal skill, or are we talking jokes here? 3. Whats the barrack to expo ratio i should be thinking of when performing sk? Thanks for anyone's help ![]()

Personally, I don't advise going pure SKTerran whole game, since you will need incredible vs. lurker micro if you have no tanks/vessels yet. Late game SKTerran is powerful because of the mobility and the excessive number of vessels - you still don't fight head to head, most damage comes from irradiate. 2. Yes, high APM. I mean, you can do SKTerran with low APM, but once you get around seven/eight control groups of marine/medic/vessel, it's really hard to manage everyone with only 100 APM. With 170-200 I find it hard. NaDa 400+ APM... so yeah. 3. Hm... 2 ports, and approx. 5 rax, I think? I'm not too sure, someone else can add on. Vessels are more important than more mnm. Though you'll have an insane mineral surplus, so you will get marines anyways. - but you can skimp relatively on meds.

1: Being able to move several groups of units fast, hence peak high apmwise 2: Being able to scroll fast as fuck over all your barrackses without queing more than 2 units. 3: Being able to clone strike with 7+ vessels lategame 4: Being able to regroup and reinforce your main troop continously 5 Upgrading marines are your nr1 priority as you cant afford being behind in ups doing this strat. You dont need 400 apm BUT you need to have good timing macrowise(pumping M&M exactly the moment your new ones finish) I'd say you need 200-250++ without the spam. You can do it below 200 APM, but your lategame will most likely suffer. If you get contained you need to make a tank.

One of the things about apm is that as your apm rises, you experience the law of diminishing returns. The higher your apm, the less gain you get in true speed for every additional click. This isn't due to so much to spamming as it is due to human limitations. Often what people consider spam that progamers are doing is allowing them to react marginally faster (I'm talking late game, not early game warm up spam). To have a decent SK Terran, you're really going to be more around 200 apm late game (it doesn't amtter what your average apm is, it matters what your average apm between 15 minutes and the end of the game is).
