I tried the left and right alt but all it still doesn't work. o.o it does the normal alt functions instead of creating those characters.

Alt+Shift changes the IME (Input Method Editor).

When in Battle.net

1. Press Alt+Shift
2. Press RIGHT Alt once.

Type wlwl.

If it doesn't show up as 지지, you need to install the Korean IME. Go to Bard's Displaying Korean guide

Here's some more.

테란 (Tae-ran) - Terran
저그 (Jeo-geu) - Zerg
프로, 프로토스 (Peu-ro, Peurotoseu) - Protoss
만 (Man) - Only
eg. 초고수저그만 means Only really gosu Zergs
Do your best, God will do the rest.

Chogosu means kind of "nearly pro," not "really pro." It's like prefix, you can say chochobo if you want...I think.

That's incorrect, the cho is the Chinese character 超: which means over, superior etc. The chobo on the other hand is 初 which means first, beginning.

Can someone confirm this? A friend of mine told me that is what it means, "cho." I don't know if it's same as Chinese either...I know that it means that in Chinese, I speak Chinese, but I am also fluent in Japanese and I know that many kanji are different from their Chinese meaning or have subtle differences, ex. the difference between "to sit" and "chair."

some of Korean words is came from chinese letter ( only meaning ), HOWEVER we use totally different pronounciation and alphabet for those.

Cho is not a word, it only works with certain words like gosu/hasu. It means like 'hella'. I would say cho is more like 'slang'.

I'm glad y'all like this. I was kind of suprised that there wasn't a thread like this made on here. =p\

Also, glad that you two little hussies are through fighting =p (<3 you Ray)

I know that I can get a lot out of this thread, I just hope that this thread keeps going and things.

How do you ask, "1:1 anyone?" or "Game anybody?" I'm just curious how to say it in hangul. =p

I didn't type this guide and I know that it is in the search. I also realise that somewhere in the post someone couldn't have pasted the link for this guide.
======================================================================

Here is my list for those without korean fonts..
Koreans pretty much use short version of English phrases for build ups and strategies...
I really don't think you need to use much Korean to play with Koreans as teammates..

Strategies

* Fast dragoon

* Fast zealot

* One fac double (one factory double command)

* 2 fac (2 factories)

* 3 centi drop (3 cm drop, dropping your units in enemys' base only travelling a short distance i.e without overlord speed upgrade)

* 4 drone (4 drone spawning rush)

* 8 barrack

* 9 over pool (9 drone - overlord - spawning pool)

* BBS, BSB (barrack - barrack - supply, barrack - supply - barrack)

* FD terran (fake double command, usually consists of attacking your enemy really early on with 1~2 tank + 5~7 marines making them think you're playing agressively when you're actually expanding)

* SK terran (It's a strategy usually consists of numerous M&M, loads of Science vessels and little or no mechanic units)

* Gas rush

* Gong up, Bang up (Gong up means attack upgrade, Bang up means defense upgrade so if you say gong 2up bang 3up, it means your upgrade status is 2,3 respectively. for shield upgrade you just say shield upgrade)

* Bal up (speed upgrade, i.e zerglings, hydra, zealots)

* Ggot bat cannon or sunken (when you or enemy has excessive cannon/sunken defense line) Ggot bat literally means flower garden.

* Gu reum Ssa be or Gu reum science vessel (literally means Science Vessel cloud, which means loads of them)

* Nak ha san drop (It literally means parachute drop, which means you don't drop your units all at one at one place but rather one by one at different places strategically)

* Detecting = same

* Ddang Hyrda (It means pure hydras without lurks or zerglings)

* River dae bak ( Dae bak means spectacular so you say it when River is able to kill loads of enemy units) Same applies for mine, I.e. Mine dae bak

* Mine yuk dae bak (You say it when mines kill lots of their own units instead)

* Mak multi (it's when you expand like there's no tommorow)

* Manner pylon (if you don't know what it is, then quit sc)

* Mechanic

* Mok dong zerg (it literally means shepherd or cowboy zerg, usually consists of millions of zerglings + ultralisks)

* Molae multi (when you expand secretively or in unexpected places, Molae = without knowing, Multi = expansion Koreans don't say expansion)

* Molae gun mool (when you build buildings in unexpected places)

* Bionic
* Bakanic (Bionic + mechanic, M&M + mechanic units)
* Burrow
* Bunkering
* Sunken Rush

* Sok up (speed upgrade, but usually applies to shuttle, overlord and vulture)

* Soo song up (Overlord transportation upgrade)

* Yang dong Jak jun (It means when you're multi attacking, i,e overlord drop as well as attacking from the main)

* Jung Chal (Scout)

* Soon hwae gong yun (Instead of guerilla harrassing with small amount of units, it's when you take down your enemys' expansion one by one in full force it literally means round tour or road show)

* Yuk rush (it's when your enemy rushes you but fails and you attack them back immediately)

* il Koon bibigi (It's sor of like a bug, It literally means workers rub, you say it when your workers go through mineral lines using mineral click - move command)

* il jum sa (It's when you aim attack particular unit with several units of yours to kill them off individually instead of randomly hitting other units)

* Jun jin (it means proxy, so you say jun jin gate, junjin barrack etc)

* Ji woo gae (it means eraser, usually harrassing drones with your science vessesls eradiated)

* Jil tem (zealot + templar)

* Chun ji storm (it means heaven and earth storm, you can do it if you spread your templars right and use storm aimed at one particular spot. It has huge range)

* Cheese rush

* Turret sin gong (when you mass build turrets it literally means devine turrets)

* Fast dark
* Fast carrier

* Pok tan drop (it literally means drop bomb so you say it when you mass drop)

* Hardcore zealot rush

* Hydra wave (when you mass hydra)

* Han bang rush = wait for the timing then gather all macro and strike upon your enemy

Here are some extras

Manner = same
Sugo = good effort/good job
12 si = 12'o clock direction (as in position)
Chi sa = disgraceful, shameful (When your opponent 4 drones you say chisa)
Sa rang hae = I love you
Nimi = your mum
Jungmal? = really?
Good Night - Jar Ja sea yo

It took me ages so I hope you find it helpful..

no the 초 for 초고수 IS 超 which means 'super' like .... 초사언 -> super sayan which sounds amazingly similar to the cantonese version. lol so yeah anyway.. i dont know how you 한국사람s treat 초 like but in chinese 초 is like super.

Okay so here goes. I'm assuming you already have Korean installed on the computer.

1. Leave it in English mode.
2. Start BW and go onto Battle.net
3. Alt+Shift
4. PRESS THE RIGHT ALT ONCE
5. Type Korean
6. Press the right alt again to change back to English.
Do your best, God will do the rest.

Wow, lots of people dedicated to translating random definitions. If anyone wants to know what a particular word means, or wants me to translate, just hollar. (send me a PM) and I'd be glad to help.

@the original poster: nice effort, but one thing: there's a lot of ambiguous words in Korean and you seemed to have touched upon quite a few of them. I think what M7Excellence has in his reply is a very effective way to learn SC related korean.

At the alt+shift step, is that left alt+shift or it doesn't matter? After you've done the alt+shift once you don't need to do it again for the duration that bw is open so that you can jsut keep pressing the right alt to switch between them?
