I think it's because of the huge open spaces.
I for some reason have never liked playing on Circuit Breaker and especially Fighting Spirit so this season is perfect for me. I LOVE match point for instance.

i love match point too :O maybe it's my favorite 2 player map why.. its unique, quite a lot of ways to go to the other side of the map, to attack/defend I guess it's one of the maps where there is a longer minimum distance between the 2 players too, I think that's interesting and you can still attack early

I think the map is not good for PvZ. The all-in block of the choke of the Zerg player is annoying and attempted too often (even though it's easily counterable). But what's even worse is that 100% of the games end up in a split up map. I think it's too narrow.

Started playing some remastered. It bothers me a lot that you can't racepick or smurf. Trying to learn pvt, but if i queue in ranked i queue as terran and tvt... Anyone know if thats something thats coming?

hopefully but doubtfully. I saw some Q&A with some blizzard guy who said that they didn't want that under some bullshit reasoning that seemed to indicate that they didn't understand what racepicking was. I've posted a lot on the official bnet forums about this, as it basically ruined ladder as a practice arena for me (and any other racepicker) but I haven't seen any blizzard response.

i really find mmr deadful at times fun matchups for me are : NON MIRROR guess with what you get matched witha ll the time mirror matchups bring on the fun guys.
wasting my time with matchups i dont want to play great

^ been mentioned many times, but afaik blizzard hasn't reacted in any way
they have lost understanding of player point of view the rule for playing a game of starcraft isn't that you lock the race before you make a game you make a game, players join, then they pick their race (seeing everybody's picks), then the game starts
they just decide that only for ladder this rule changes and you must pick only 1 race or random, probably too lazy to implement a simple lobby system on ladder let's be real even automatic matchmaking can easily lead to game lobby with greyed out "cancel". If you cancel anyway, you "lose" (points) for refusing match, if you want. Game starts, you get to change your race within a time limit. That's the rule of starcraft blizzard^^ decided by the guys who made the game (not you), and agreed by its players (also not you lol)
its also obvious, why would everyone only play 1 race or all match ups of every race they might pick, or why would you lock it before making the game or seeing your opponent? why should your ladder change the rule that exists out of it for the game? because you don't care, and just give priority to draw your interface a certain way?
if your boss is telling you "no" to this, tell him to go play hearthstone and don't mess with bw, and do it anyway

Not like you'd need a lobby system to make race picking work for ranked. Just create a 'toggle race-picking' option, and if you do that, you get a drop-down menu where rather than simply choose terran zerg protoss random, you get to choose x vs terran x vs zerg x vs protoss x vs random. Then if the players both choose zvt zvp pvz, you pick one of the overlapping matchups and randomly give one player zvp and the other pvz. In the super-rare event where there are no overlapping matchups (having race-picked in a 5 digit number of games I think this literally happened once, and not against a good opponent), you assign both players with their 'vs random' option. or something. Every race-picker would vastly prefer playing a matchup they're unfamiliar with 1/10000 of the time rather than 1/3 anyway.

^yeah agree that works too
just do something and tell your boss to go look at something else if he doesn't seem to cooperate

Never mind, I understand what you mean now.

people would love racepicking, but i doubt they would do it for MM. They haven't even done it for SC2. racepicking would create so many more games, I wish it will one day happen.

The only reason I don't want people to be able to race pick and it's purely selfish is that I love TvT and one reason I hated iCCUP is I never got to play any TvT because people immediately switched to Protoss. TvT is my favourite matchup, I don't want to miss out on playing it

Yeah I mean that's all fair, but it's basically an argument for race picking, because it states that more people would get to play the matchup they prefer - even though you personally wouldn't.

So what can we do about it? I think the arguments for racepicking heavily outweighs the arguments against it. Specially if you want more people to play remastered, which is a metric Blizzard should understand.
I would even go so far as to be able to pick a map, but I can live with random map pool. As been mentioned above, I don't get why they needed to mess with the fundamentals of how you start a game only because they applied match making.
I just want a good place to practice BW right now and Bnet doesn't support that.
Just keep spamming the Bnet forums or get organized in some way?

I decided to just say fuck it and play random, but you can try to spam their forums or organize something. I'd totally join, but I don't feel like spearheading a movement. (Kinda-sorta tried that, no response from blizzard though).

ddos battle.net if they won't cooperate lolz

The thing is though is there any statistic we can look at of how many people that race pick and how many people that don't? I honestly outside of teamliquid and this is a minority on teamliquid as well from experience have never seen anyone that race picks or wants to. I've never run into people leaving games immediately to dodge matchups easier.

i know a bunch of people who race pick and always played that way they are not playing now
it's not a huge proportion of players, probably less than 10% (?), but significant it would likely be more than 10% if you think of players who would race pick "occasionally" rather than "always" it's a significant thing overall that you can do that, shouldn't be lost to a ladder interface really SC2 doesn't have it because SC2 was designed with controlling players in mind, SC2 should really never by default serve as a model for anything done for starcraft
