BW love combined with a bitterness towards sc2 and what it supposedly has failed to achieve when compared to its predecessor does nothing but to alienate people new to the community and sc2, and it's hurting TL's image. Launcing a BW tournament now on the verge of a new expansion also puts TL's priorities into question.
Or.....it could just be that it's a new year and maybe there's a possibility that we can foster a set of small BW tournaments on top of all the HotS events that go on all the time already?

God, this is unbelievable. Thank you TL! I might get back into BW again . Cheers for the best RTS/Competitive game ever made, which no other game or sequel can top.

I AM STRONG
I AM ZERG
I AM THE FUTURE
My thoughts on this topic: Wow. Thank you Teamliquid!!!!!!!!
As for Razer: I already liked your mice, but now I like you even more :D Twitch: I'll definitely be using Twitch rather than Own3d. I know I'm letting corporations manipulate me, but if it means more Brood War, I'll gladly make that trade. :D

Stop your fucking whining. Some people who like Brood War are making a Brood War tournament. That is all. It's not going to effect StarCraft 2, or you, at all.

Send your curriculum to Nazgul, they clearly need you leading their business. Calm down, It's just the perspective of a common spectator, one which a certain portion of people might agree with. A certain portion. In this announcement news thread with 420 replies and counting, only 3 people expressed any negativity towards the event. People who love SC2 and who use Teamliquid to follow its scene will do so regardless of whether or not Teamliquid also organizes a BW event at the same time. A TL thread dedicated to a BW event shouldn't bother spectators following a different game at all. As a common spectator myself I try to appreciate rather than decry attention to games I don't regularly follow like AoK or SupCom, or even events like AGDQ. We're all here to have and share fun, right?

Organising a BW tournament is "hurting TL's image" and "puts TL's priorities into question"? Are you trolling or are you really such a pompous busybody and spoilsport?

1) Trolling in the BW section does hurt TL's image. We should have mature users. It puts TL's priorities into question if they support one BW starleague in two years after they did everything for sc2 including: the biggest and best foreign coverages, tsl3+4, a team participating in OSL and GSL? No it doesnt. And even if TL changed its priorities and focussed more on, say dota2, they probably know best which should be their peer group. So please troll somewhere else

TL has nothing to lose by making BW tournament in fact they have only things to gain, latest TSL didnt even really differentiate that much among sea of Major Tournaments in SC2
Besides, franchises that take care of minorities or "legacy" products look better.
And yes i forgot that post looks even more ridiculous when you remember that TL owns a Dota2 team which is further away from SC2 than BW (woah suprise there).

Awesome! I'm so proud of you TL!

when I first took a peek I thought to myself "oh, another sc2 tournament, how uncanny"
but after watching the video .... I'm left speechless

All the whiners are just scared of Broodwar, that's all. They're scared that other people might see a real game and realize how bad of a sequel SC2 is. SC2 is a great game, don't get me wrong, but it's a terrible sequel to BW. The people who oppose this tournament are scared of seeing a game that is better than theirs, and they are scared of having other people look at the game and say "why am I even playing SC2?"
Furthermore, they're scared because the average BW player is mechanically head and shoulders above the average SC2 player. If most BW players were to switch to SC2, most would be masters level. That sort of gaming superiority scares the shit out of the SC2 player, who thinks he's hot shit because he has 150 APM and most of his peers have 80.

Its like teamliquid just won back my heart after all the (understandable) let downs (placing broodwar under dota2 on the web page, no BW news on the front page etc). Also massive cred to Razer and Twitch (Twitch has always been cool though) for supporting this.
Then obviously love to 2pac + the crew for what they are doing. But the love has already reached max level a long time ago for those people

ummmm... no...
You should just maybe stop being such an elitist and also probably stop generalizing every sc2 player as the same as that one guy that posted and said bw sucks, mmk?

Factual?
BW is not dead. That is at least one "fact" you have wrong.
