Other than the shape, the issue must be you. The Krait has perfect control up to 1.78 m/s (70 inches per second) and does not produce malfunctioning results until 3.84 m/s (151 inches per second). The description in the OP about this mouse being bad for FPS games is absurd in every way. It is, however, a bit small for a palm style.

But everyone's talking about the krait like its great.. whats the difference would optical be better then laser for rts? Also I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Razer Habu i'm thinking about replacing my copperhead and I've always loved the way the ms ie mouse was designed the feel of the grip and all.. its laser and uses upto 2000 dpi.
Any suggestions? So far ive liked my copperhead but it just feels like when i play with my old ie mouse i get more accurate clicking on splitting and micro.
Basicly Habu or Krait??!! Higher DPI does not make it better - in fact, for Starcraft, it makes it WORSE. You're just going to have to turn it down to 400/800 anyway, so don't fall victim to silly marketing. The Krait is indeed much the same shape, but it is a bit smaller. The size makes it a bit easier for a finger-grip or claw grip.
wat?
i'm pretty sure the higher the DPI, the better it is in all cases. RTS games just dont need as much precision as FPS games.

DPI is not precision - it's dots per inch. Being able to register 2000 pixels in an inch while you are running a game in 800x600 is overkill in every way. Realistically, for serious gaming, you should be using 400-800 at max. This applies to every game, not just FPS games.

Ever thought about keeping the precision high and lowering the mouse pointer speed?

Uhm, Krait is like the best mouse for SC, I like things minimal and I only need 2 buttons to play SC.....
|
It's a great mouse. Been using it for several months now without a problem. Reacts on command, is really steady and the simple model (just 2 buttons and a scroll) minimizes the risk of unnessary missclicks. It's really cheap compared to other mice out there, reaching almost half the prize of many high tech laser mice. It also looks really cool, specially for a zerg player.
I tried a copperhead that cost roughly $50-60 but just one minute of gameplay made me figure that it's impossible to play with that laser technology. A half that prize optical Krait was a catch!
To people saying that it sucks for playing counter-strike I will have to agree to a degree. It surely doesnt suck since the aim is really steady, but you cant really do those quick aggressive moves that you do so often. I would go for a bigger mouse if I were to play FPS.

If you were to use high sensitivity with low DPI, you end up with skipped pixels. If you use low sensitivity with high DPI, you cannot fall below the minimum (in this case, 1600 pixels) without having missed movements. As you can tell, both of these are equally bad for accuracy. The only proper choice you can make with a high DPI would be using a standard 1:1 sensitivity to movement, with a very large display. Using a large display could justify a high DPI, but you'd need a resolution with a native 2000 width or more to make any real use of it. Since it'd be LCD, you'd already be struggling with input lag, and mouse DPI would be the least of your issues.

i use razer krait and its awesome . Really small , slick and fast mouse , only 2 buttons are enough for me . I had a Fatal1ty mouse before my krait , it was also a good mouse , but not as good as Krait is .

What surface are you lads using along with the Krait?
|
salmosa is smaller, faster than krait. i have both. i used to swear by the krait... but after trying the salmosa once i never went back.

Been using a Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 for 2+ years now that cost me $30 for all game types (I play a lot of CS) and have no issues with it.
I dunno, some of these mice just seem like overkill. The one in the OP isn't too bad though. Maybe if I started playing with a $100 mouse I'd feel a difference in my FPS games...

Hmm.. well I bought the Razer "Destructor" recently, was just wondering if I made a decent purchase among all the neat-o mouse pads. It was also sorta expensive too.. =P Oho you work for Razer, tell me something - is the Salmosa that good of a choice? Last week I was on the birthday of a close friend of mine and I desperately tryed to convince the guys to buy him a Salmosa as a present. Well.. we ended giving him a huge pipe along with a nice, plump plastic-bag with weed.. but yeah.. Salmosa.. atleast I tryed. =\

Has anyone tryed Steelseries Kinzu? that should be rival to krait/salmosa.. I need new mouse and wondering which is better, salmosa or kinzu

Razer Mantis Control edition. Works perfectly. i <3 Razer

the main reason why this mouse is made for RTS games, is bcuz its got a smaller shape than the piece of crap copperhead, and it doesnt use a laser sensor, so if you make fast movements, the cursor wont spazz out
