Ohter range units also don't fire when using hold command.
I don't see how for lurker is any different.

If this is a bug, then all should be a bug.

It is foribidden because of balance changes, not because it is a bug.

If we want to know, if Blizzard consider "hold lurkers" as a bug, we should look at Blizzcon rules. And it's not forbidden there AFAIR.

u guys keep discuting if its a bug or not
if starleague, the most valiable starcraft tournament uses it, if blizzcon, the blizzard official tournamnet uses it, why should be considered a bug???

I just watched a VOD of xellos vs gorush where xellos went fast expo on luna. Xellos' 2 teams of mm got raped within seconds by 2 lurkers which were using the hold lurker bug. I guess Xellos is really stupid and unaware and unprepared then.

I believe the sssssss way should be allowed but not the fog of war or the group with overlord way as many have explained how hold position is not meant to hold the unit's attack.

Last game of the finals between july and goodfriend: last minutes, july had at least 5 lurkers in hold, goodfriend goes over them with his 2 groups of mnm and because of his reflexes and attention to the marines he doesnt lose more than 6-7 to lurker fire. In progamer level, yes that would be for Xellos, unpreparedness and unawareness.

i think blizzard intented for lurkers to be able to hold AND not attack because if it was a bug its a quite obvious bug that has known for years and blizzard would of said or fix something,by now

It's obviously unintentional since hold position isn't intended to cause units to never fire. The only unit that Blizzard intended to not fire when units are within range is the ghost and only when cloaked and in the stop or move command, but it DOES fire when put under hold position. Of course, there's a lot of unintentional features of BW that are allowed like scv+marine hold position, attacking while moving with air units, in particular carriers, and the use of worker slide for things other than mining. None of these are really game-breaking bugs but in the case of hold lurker I can see why some people wouldn't allow it. It has the same consequence of allied mines, which is banned, but I guess isn't as severe. Personally, and I am a Terran player, I don't think it's powerful enough to warrant being banned. It's really only limited to early-mid game use before Terran gets sci-vessel, and most T's should be able to scout well enough to never allow Zerg players to catch their units in this manner that early in the game.

actually, it DOES NOT. except if it was not cloaked. when cloaked, the only way to make ghosts attack is right-clicking or clicking "A" and then left-clicking a unit/building.
