I guess if it's 2 distinct squads this could be alright. Like if they had each sc2 pro team partner up with a bw team for 1 combined roster where they each play their own games but its on the same show. That could actually be pretty badass from a spectator perspective imo.

I think they're just afraid of losing all of the BW fanbase and just giving them a flavor of how SC2 is. What a weakassed approach Interesting note though: >> 블리자드는 그래텍으로부터 협회, 온게임넷과 스타2 중계권 협상 권한을 회수해 계약을 마무리한 것으로 전해졌다. Blizzard took away Gretech's negotiation rights to negotiate with OGN and KeSPA and finalized a contract. I figured it'd end up like this given how much of a bitch Gretech has been in negotiations. Given Blizzard is leaning with OGN/KeSPA much over Gretech, it's happening soon I guess. EDIT: one more thing of note. >> e스포츠 한 관계자는 "팀들은 이미 스타2에 대해 지난 시즌부터 조금씩 대비하기 시작했다"며 "차기 시즌 스타2가 도입되는 것이 거의 확실시 되고 있어 이번 비시즌은 각 팀마다 스타2 대비에 만전을 기할 것으로 보인다"고 전했다. Basically it's pretty much confirmed there will be SC2 in Proleague next season. the proposed format is dumb and will not please either sides. despite of differences, i think both sides realize that they are different games. off topic regarding quote about gretech's negotiation rights w competitors being taken away, does anyone know what blizzard made this shift? I do agree that gom didn't do a great of a job since release with sc2 in korea so kespa should be given a chance to do its thing like it has been for bw.... but not like this(back on topic)

WTF. 2 discreet leagues much better than _ _ _ _ like this. BW fans come to watch, take and hour break, and watch again. Same for SC2 fans. A fan gets so hyped up for one match then the next one is just... Is this because of the whole LOL is getting popular and SC needs something to survive? If it is, then this is not the solution. If it isn't this is not the solution. This is not the solution.

If it isn't this is not the solution. This is not the solution. LoL is not really a threat to Brood War. It probably has more to do with Blizzard offering Kespa a stable source of funding, and favorable terms on the broadcasting contract. Blizzard probably wants to get Browder's game Proleague locked in before it suffers any further decline in popularity as a result of LoL, or as a result of the release of Diablo 3.

I agree George Lucas is definitely screen writing and / or directing for OGN's marketing department, only person capable of ruining their own well established franchise.

Also I suggest OP compiling a list of all the analogies that have been used to describe this FUBAR idea.

It's a much bigger threat than SC2.

I don't think anyone who used to watch and enjoy BW is going to stop watching BW for LoL, if they were doing that they are probably not staple rts fans any ways. The two games have very different demographics.

I can already see viewership numbers dropping like a stone. This must be the worst business decision of 2012.
