I am not insulting anyone who likes 2d neither do I say it does not exist here or in korea, blablabla. I just say the amount of people who do is so low it is insignificant.
Lol read 0 news, go and post right ahead, there are really some massive fails of thought indeed. Why didn't they watch Warcraft 3, Red Alert 3... all of them are in 3d and were released way before sc2 ? All the news point out that in Korea BW just get way bigger number of viewers compared to all other RTS. If you read the news it states that although the fanbase is still huge the companies don't want to sponsor anymore because "the game is too old and there's no foreign viewership". This is at least a valide reason instead of your automatic win for "3D" lool.

Can someone translate any netizen reactions to this?

That aside, OSL not getting sponsorship != OSL not getting viewers.

This is torture to my poor BW soul. I'd rather they killed it outright than this ridiculous bullshit. It's just prolonging the pain at this point.
EVERY SINGLE GAME will be a reminder of the imminent forced death of BW.

It might be alright (assuming you like both), but it just feels odd. It just feels better for them to keep doing what they do best and enjoy.
A voluntary switch is one thing, but it kinda sounds from these rumours that the pro's are getting strong-armed into switching. Oh there's no doubt about that. The rule they can't play the same game consecutively, if true, means that they can't keep being a progamer if they don't play SC2. That they have to make this means that they're worried a lot of players won't play SC2 voluntarily. It's sad the players have no power or say in this, but there is no other BW job out there. They either accept it or they retire, and a lot of them probably aren't ready to stop playing games just yet.

Yeah it pretty much is "learn to play SC2 or retire" but honestly it's not like they really have another choice to give players at this point, which is the worst part of this whole thing. Unless a group of generous new sponsors willing to pay for everything come by everyone's hands are tied. Even as someone looking forward to seeing them play SC2 eventually it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Arguments here just hit the fan. And I thought my posts were bad. *sigh

So you're saying that your scene doesn't have any talent and the current state of it is stale, dumb and unexciting? I thought so too.
Fuck Esports

Oh, are you here to show me that I am not serious? some SC2 fans came and told us why we didn't like the game, like they knew better! Do you have any suggestions on what I need to be doing and not doing?

If I was Flash, Jaedong, Fantasy or Bisu I would be furious. After all that hard work. They are saying, if you want to keep playing BW, then you have to play and practice SC2 too. Disbanding the BW league altogether is better than this. How can a organization treat their players like this?

that's just the killer for me...seriously?

Well, KeSPA is pretty well-known for making bad decisions from time to time, so I guess this isn't surprising. However, forcing the transition onto players would be too much, especially since I'm just seeing next season as more of an experiment poking at the viability of SC2 rather than as a concrete stepping stone for a full transition.

If its an experiment then just hope that Koreans would take this badly.

If its an experiment then just hope that Koreans would take this badly. Perhaps that might be good for the BW leagues to continue on, but I'm not sure if BW can fully recover at this point. If the SC2 venture fails, it's unsure or even doubtful if the sponsors will return to BW, and we all know how much KeSPA is struggling to look for sponsors at this point. Yeah we would still see great games and storylines and hordes of Korean fans lining up for live games, but all that needs money and won't materialize if companies are scared off after this entire ordeal turns into a complete disaster.
Of course, perhaps we might get lucky and the companies do return to sponsor BW after KeSPA switches back from SC2 to BW. But the only way I see that happening is if the companies that are holding back their sponsorships to see how SC2 would fare change their mind after the potential BW to SC2 disastrous switch and decide to sponsor BW instead, though it's entirely possible that they might not sponsor any esport at all.

Funny though: and now Hiya, who don't need to practice sc2 (no team - no rules) will go on a huge win-streak

Kinda sad to see this, really. I've never really gotten into the BW scene but this just seems wierd, if people don't want to watch SC2 they shouldn't get it forced down their throats like this.
I recall reading a comic book once where the main character was actually a comic book character (Comicception oh lawd) and in one of the issues his popularity hits rock bottom and the salesman that always has the character's comics stocked becomes so desperate to get rid of them that even the purchase of a bar of chocolate comes with 10 free copies of the guy's comics.
Somehow, this scenario reminded me of that comic.

So on days when a progamer's next game has to be BW, he can't play in the ace match unless he didn't play in the first 6 games? And if he doesn't play in the first 6 games in the hope of being able to play in the ace match, then he'll be in the same predicament next week if the team doesn't make it to an ace match :/

Somehow, this scenario reminded me of that comic. BW popularity is not hitting bottom, it is still the most popular RTS in Korea, it is just sponsors.
