Imo BW PvZ/P and ZvZ is way better, in SC2 for me TvT and TvZ are really good matchups to watch imo. PvZ in SC2 is just terrible to watch . I can understand BW fans being mad at SC2 fans(I remember me being the same with CS 1.6 vs CSS lol), but try to look at things from their perspective..

Unfortunately all the latest info on this whole ordeal is now hidden in the 100 pages of "my game is better than your game" shit. I'll quote my post from earlier as I also think the OP should be updated since we're being restricted to this thread for the latest sources. For instance, the Team 8 coach's interview here, (Summarized by rotinegg here) The Fomos and DES/MBCplus mirror, (Summarized by white_horse here and here) and the newest article the now closed thread was based on here.

Short summary: -SK Planet Proleague to begin this May, will be able to see BW players try out their SC2 hands. -SC2 implementation was possible due to blizzard's persuasion and Gretech conceding its exclusive contract. -No official announcements, but progamers practicing sc2 atm. One affiliated staff said: "Next year, PL is projected to switch over to SC2 completely." -How the mixed league will be run is still under discussion, but the most plausible theory is switching between each set, with the ace match being BW in all cases. -It seems Kespa will be forcing the integration by disallowing the player from playing two consecutive matches of the same game [So players like Jaedong Flash Bisu Stork won't be able to crush noobs in BW all day; they will have to play SC2 in half of their matches.] -All Kespa-run proteams have agreed not to bring in any current SC2 progamers under Gretech for a year. -SC2 is evaluated as being less fun to spectate as an e-sport than SC1, so Kespa and the proteams must provide a solution to this problem to ensure the success of the next season of PL. [I know this will be a controversial statement, so I will include the source in its original form, and other translators can confirm my translation. + Show Spoiler + 특히 스타2가 스타1보다 e스포츠로서의 재미가 덜하다는 평가를 받고 있어 협회와 게임단은 시즌2에서 흥행공식을 도출하는 과제를 풀어야 한다. The rest of the article was just analysis without facts so I ignored it.

As curious as I am, this sounds like a terrible idea - not that the alternating sets thing won't already make for lower quality BW and SC2 sets.

It's way more attractive for sponsors because of the foreign viewers, so foreign sponsorship is a possibility and also Korean companys that also do business outside of Korea.

Are there any details on Blizzard's role in this?

I am really disappointed at how Kespa is handling the thing. You know, they should just let the teams absorbs the pre-existing SC2 teams in Korea, keep the two games separated, allow Gom TV to broadcast Brood War so we can hear Tastosis once again doing their thing from the golden days. SC2 fans get to be happy because their games are being exposed to the masses in Korea, BW fans are happy because we got ourselves the Archon back! Everybody fucking wins!
