I'm Zerg player with average APM and skills. I just wanted to know, which Hotkeys do I need to use if I play Zerg, also how high does my APM have to be, to play good iwth Zerg. At the moment I use the Hotkeys 1-3 for units 4-9 for hatches. Also I could need some tips for gettin better with Zerg. Thanks and regards | ||

I personally use: 1 - First scouting drone -> Army 2 - First scouting overlord ->Mutalisks 3 - Defense drone (from pylon blocks and such) -> Overseer 4 - Nothing..  5-9 - Separate base hatches, 5 being main. 0 - All hatches, for pumping out units faster. You'll notice I don't have a hotkey for queens. I realize this is bad, but since I check my base every 1 or 2 seconds, I can inject anytime I don't see green bubbles on my hatcheries. What you can work on is redoing your setup mid-game. For example, if the game gets to lategame 1-3 will not be enough to control your army, 1-5 may not even be adequate. For example, if I'm setting up for a big push with a 200/200 army I will bind pretty much 1-9 and then use savescreenposition to macro. As for APM, the more the merrier. Around 100 apm should allow you to macro in every situation except from really tense micro battles. | ||

EDIT oh darkplasmaball posted below, it probably is just ensnare on hatchery, nothing special, but why would you want to slow down something which doesn't move? EDIT 2: also, you made a typo, overseer should be overlord, but that's minor... i guess you must really love drop strategy :O | ||

Hope this helps. 1 is Army? This means your ground army is never larger than 12 units? Do you always attack before the ten-minute mark as a general rule? If this is the case, then I'm confused as to why you need five hotkeys for different bases. Also, do you prefer attacking with 12 zerglings or a mix of 6 zerglings and 6 hydras? | ||

Around 100 apm should allow you to macro in every situation except from really tense micro battles. I doubt it. Even proper scout's control requires more APM. I believe it should be at least 160-200. | ||

Nah, he has 2 hotkeys for army actually: 2 - First scouting overlord ->Mutalisks It seems like he prefer muta all-in into GG build. | ||

Early Game: + Show Spoiler + 1 Lings 2 Nothing yet (Maybe scouting drone) 3 Scouting Overlord 4 Main 5 Nat Exp Mid Game: + Show Spoiler + 1-2 Army... 3 Mutalisk? 4 Main 5 Nat Expo 6 Third Hatch #6: 3rd hatch could be my 2nd Expo or an aditional htach in my main I prefer the one in my base cause this are the hatch u use to group ur army not your drones Late Game + Show Spoiler + 1-4 A lot bunch of units !! 5 Main is here now or a hatch is in your main at least 6-8 Hatchzz... I cant really use more hotkeys than that.... I add one more hotkey for army because you can really move a big armies with just 3hotkeys Most of ur untis are lings so.... QUEENS are a terrible idea dont listen to that GenesisX. Clearly he is n00b !! xD If you have extra minerals make more hactheries | ||

I tried this and couldn't get more than one hatchery on 0 Did you try to ensnare them? Maybe there is a trick with queen ability and MBS. | ||

What I meant was that you could macro pretty well in all situations where you are not performing micro with some unit. I did come across a little "100 apm is all you need" though and and that is ofc not the truth. Also, posting in epic thread. | ||
