and Day is right. Latency affekts how often the game sends packets. Naturally, if the packets are sent less frequently, your command have to wait a while to be issued.

It operates a few seconds behind so that, if any information lags behind slightly, it has about a second or two to catch up. This poses a problem because essentially, no matter what, your micro, macro, and etcetera will always be a second or so behind in any game. low latency is nice because the server will wait for all your commands, at the cost of the lag box coming. That is the right answer mostly. Except the difference in reponse times isn't quite as drastic as a whole or several seconds. It's a few hundred milliseconds difference, which is still quite a lot.

I usually leave when people do this. That kind of newbies ain't really worth the time.

infact, i would rather play in a lag filled game with low latency than a lagless extra high latency. i hate ehl.

after first minute of the game: <random Korean sets latency to EXTRA HIGH>! -I set it to low again, explain there is no lag, make barrack earlier, scout diagonally, prepare for a rush -rush comes, I defend Korean: "map map! ;;; ????????" and leaves -People who set it to extra high when there is no lag often intend to have more effective rush/pressure/cheese ![]() -diagonal scouting = "map" ;D

I don't know what race you are playing. But as protoss, a zealot rush with extra high latency is a rather stupid thing to do. If you try to run the most damaged zealot away, it will most of the time just die, because it takes so $%&$&% long for the move-command to take effect. It's like using drums instead of radio communication. I usually leave the game, if it is lag-free and my opponent refuses to play with low latency. Drazzzt aka ShortNotice
