all pro sports are sometimes fixed because all players, coaches and managers are human. Donaghy wasn't match fixing. He was gambling on the games based on imagined NBA referee preferences, but he was completely bullshitting about how successful he really was.

rofl, nobody watches NBA anymore?
Maybe not as much as the Michael Jordan days but still...

yeah it's a bit different....

Well, SC/BW is in the news headlines around various non-gaming sites lol

Loved some of the comments on that site: "njndirish: They need to spawn more overlords" "Mr. Praline: That's what happens when you require more minerals."

Umm yes. You cannot compare us to them. We grew up in different environments, had different responsibilities, different lifestyles. You might as well expect 98% of all african teenagers can read since 98% of North American children can read using your crap logic.

You are wrong. Greed and jealousy are both human nature, literacy is not. Your comparison is so bad it's almost tempting to call you childish.

I was under the impression that Donaghy was able to dictate number of fouls in a game, affecting the over/under. (call more fouls = longer game and more foul shots = higher total score)

So based upon your logic, you editing your original post to add "thank god i'm a flash fan" is not only meaningless, but ironically puts you in the same boat as the fans of other players implicated.

It's easier to accuse others of one thing and another, then admit one's own faults. As this is still an investigation under way, we for one are not in the driver's seat. Let's hope that the guilty is prosecuted, and E-Sports shall continue. The truth in this age will come out eventually, no matter how much hiding the bigger ups try to do. Here and there, there are leaks, which leads to further leaks. It's like trying to scotch-tape a Dam.

His claim on top of that was that he was betting on games based on the way other refs called games also, but he was unable to really prove how successful he was, and some of his stories didn't match the actual game statistics; http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/11340/tim-donaghys-claims-on-trial http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/11341/tim-donaghys-tale-of-dick-bavetta
Anyways, Donaghy trying to control the score of the game, and not actually affect who won/lost.

Original post updated with a Korean politician speaking out on the scandal.
Apparently Ministry of Culture has admitted the scandal to be true.
Still no names yet.

the list of people investigate is NOT an official list. Most of the people who are pretty much exposed (Yarnc, Lux, Savior) you will notice are removed from their team rosters, while many of the other names are not.
What about July he was removed from the roster ? I can't imagine him being investigated , he barely even plays anymore .
|
Pretty sure July got removed because he never plays, hasn't been that great, and they don't need a Zerg. Also, he's nearing time where he must do his military service, so it may be in preparation for his move to ACE (if he doesn't just retire)
|
I dont care if they convict alot of progamers or even some of my favorite players i will still continue watching as long i enjoy watching the games.
Starcraft is entertaining no matter who plays well you can exclude ppl like Kwanro, Hyuk... at least its still entertaing to see them fail miserably most of the time
