^^ how much did he get bribed?! scandallllllll
I see a silver-lining in a cover-up (which probably makes me a disgusting human being), not because there aren't huge ethical issues with match rigging, but because more than anything I want the scene to survive. I'd rather weather the storm and see what comes of the efforts to clean it up and if Korea will keep the scene and, for my part, refrain from denouncing it before a) anything official has been released as far as who was involved b) the Korean fan-base pulls the plug
In reality, I'm just freaked out that brood war might come to a premature end. I really think this needs cleaning, but to the few I've heard threaten to renounce interest this early on, understand that if the scandals details become official and the scene dies, you'd be at the chopping block right behind the incriminated coaches and progamers. In any event, if we care about this game and the pro brood war scene, we should save the rash comments until after the facts are stated as such.

Legal betting wouldn't work in starcraft just for that reason. Think about Boxing and why it's legal for betting in that sport Its only legal in Vegas and other places with legal sports books, just like any other betting activity.

Gah corporate cover-ups. The information is already out there though. Now rather than silencing the informants, they have to play damage control. At least that much, I would guess is good...or rather bad, depending on how one sees it.

^^ After this, I've stopped watching all professional BW in Korea. How much time have I wasted watching people lead me on, thinking I was watching SC at its best. So many people involved and nothing done until now. And it's being covered up? I want a full list of names and matches, or I'm done.
keep QQing whenever you don't get what you want
i, on the other hand, am more interested in the BW scene than ever. drama isn't always a bad thing

sometimes i envision this moment:
my father's glazed eyes fixed upon me, and i can tell he's searching for the words, somewhere, until his voices escapes,
"...I'm...I'm not angry. I'm just unbelievably disappointed. You don't know how much you've let me down."

For all of you saying that this might be the end of BW, well I have bad news for all of you. This might be the end of progaming in Korea. Why would people just start watching SC2 progaming with potentially a lot of cheating players from BW playing it. What can possibly change by changing the game or changing the organizer of all this (from KeSPA to Blizzard). Like players would suddenly stop cheating. You also cannot solve the problem by giving players larger salaries (though you can improve the situation). For larger salaries you have to have larger audience, and with larger audience comes more betting, and larger bribes. The only thing you can really do is punish the involved players harshly so others would think twice before doing the same. I really believe that this is the only possible solution if you want to save the progaming scene in Korea, and I dont say BW scene, cause the game has nothing to do with cheating.
|
Seriously, this isn't the first time cheating has hit BW or pro gaming in general, they'll just be more careful and make the players more aware of the punishment they'll receive.

Thanks a lot Rekrul, you rock. And no, if the conspirators win it would not be for the better of anything, but you probably know that. Screwing up partisanship and corruption is a good thing by default and if a tower falls it can always be rebuilt. So if you know anything more it would be appreciated if you tell us.

Yeah, so am I. Notice I said watching professional BW in Korea. VODs. Different from being on TL and keeping up with the news... I'll watch hyungjoon, nal_ra oldboy series, etc. Just not my favorite teams playing like I used to. Maybe Flash's games, that's it.

why can't you believe this? they are all immature children who were offered lots and lots of money to do something easy. you think bisu cares about anyone but himself? have you seen him in an interview. he plays with his hair and giggles most of the time- this is not someone who anyone should look up to for anything other than a good pvz build.
