you don't get credit (and therefore save money) from it. It is possible to get substantial college credit from taking IB classes in high school. Check your facts

Using your quite extensive vocabulary and elegant diction, you clearly and succinctly use clever logic to summarize a query that has piqued the interest of many higher-education intellectuals around the world. Though it may appear as if I may be mocking you, nay, I in fact find myself somewhat in accord with the aforementioned situation you have hereby described. Yet if I may, I would insist that you recognize some of the benefits that accompany the taking of AP examinations. Using my own experience, I have listed several here: 1. Got into 6/8 ivy schools (I took 10 AP's, got 8 5's) 2. If you take the same courses at university, easy grades + good review... this is not a waste of time, actually, because AP exams don't cover that much actually. 3. If there's a freaking hard required 1st year class you can skip it with the credits (thank god for Chem AP) 4. I get scholarships, money & random fancy awards (like AP national scholar with distinction) but also yeah fukin AP's ruined my entire Highschool life lol, had to study for that shit almost everyday, what a load of bull. basically i sacrificed my highschool life for a good university & good future life... so i can't really complain, but still wtf stupid APs should be banned, makes kids miss out on life

Well from my experience when i got to first year I wasnt really interested in the material because it wasnt new to me, so the way I see it...its like running a race, where u get off to a very good start but eventually end up with the rest of the pack neways. Also it seems that our friend subber here doesnt have that much time cuz of AP and high school. I wish I spent more time doin stuff rather than work in high school, cuz IB so gay ^_^. Also I sort of assumed that IB was very much like AP which I admittedly know little about.

Also I sort of assumed that IB was very much like AP which I admittedly know little about. Speaking as someone who took a lot of APs and has also taught an AP course, they are a lot of work, but they are indeed worth it on several counts, all of which have been mentioned in some form. There are two main ones. a) They look good when applying to colleges (and if you go to a school that offers them and don't take any, that looks pretty bad - top-tier colleges are unlikely to accept you without some good excuse for that choice). b) They let you skip intro classes in college, or when not accepted, at least make those courses easier, freeing time for other courses or first-year-of-college socializing and fun -- and free time in college tends to be way more fun than free time in high school. If accepted for credit, you might be able to graduate a semester or year early (10-50 grand saved, plus head-start on career), and even if you only get to skip classes, it lets you get to more interesting stuff, and maybe even something like a 5-year Master's (4 in some cases!), which both offers more job prospects AND means a salary bump almost anywhere. A friend of mine found out senior year that by shuffling her last two semesters a bit, she could pick up a MS and get a 10,000/year salary boost at the job she had lined up - and this was at a school that did not give any credit for APs, just let you skip to higher-level classes. Didn't do IB, but from what I've heard, you tend to have to jump through more hoops to get the benefits in college, although it's about the same in terms of college-app boosting.

IB covers slightly more topics but not as in depth as AP. IB or AP makes university first year classes a joke at best. First year was such a breeze. True studying does take away from lots of time in high school, but don't we work for something in university or colleges anyways? To me its time saved, not lost.

I barely spent anytime studying for them. In fact, for AP micro/macro econ, I slept in class and kept writing excuse notes to skip class (My parent's signed a consent form my senior year to let me write my own!). And then when I took the test, I used my knowledge from the Everquest bazaar and selling platinum and I scored a 4/5 on the test. But hey, this stuff doesn't actually work if you want to get into med school. You actually need to put in work and study in college. Don't get too bogged down by AP work in high school, go enjoy yourself. Don't worry about pleasing us by releasing subs, go out and have fun and go get some young chicks while they are still legal!
