Yeah, more outsider! Which one is the third map?

Cyclone Eye looks pretty cool. But yeah El Nino is a lot like Ice Outsider...

I do not like cyclone eye though. wonder what zvp is going to look like on that map

cyclone eyes gas at 3 and 9 are kinda not balance... but it looks cool.. the playground at the mid is so big!

Nope, it will now always be Tae Penguin to me.
Cool though =D Source/download?

Both these maps look really interesting, actually. Can't wait to see them in action.
With that min only on El Nino, it complicates Outsider's 'which expansion do I take?' even more so. I like the large, open mains, and the potential for lots of unconventional play.
Those walls on Cyclone Eye should prove to be interesting, though I'm not sure how things will play out with such a huge portion of the map devoid of resources, and a very open center. Cross positions look to be wildly different from side-by-side, more than we've seen in a while.

I may be crazy but those maps look like they favor protoss over zerg slightly, maybe map makers started feeling bad for toss :D
|
Cyclone Eye looks pretty bad for Terran. Pushing through the center area might be tough with all that open space.
El Nino looks pretty cool though. The lack of gas options prevents the lame sit-on-four-gas-and-fast-tech-to-hive zerg while Terran holds out on four base play that Outsider eventually developed into.
|
OMG! A cross between Tau Cross and Outsider! Second map looks nice too.

El Nino looks very fun and interesting, but I'm not a fan of the walls on Cyclone Eye, personally. I think both can produce great games, though!

I think "Eye of the Hurricane" is a better translation for the name of the map - but if it sounds too long, then I guess we can keep it that way.

Please don't call it El Niño... everyone's going to write it without the ñ and it's going to drive me fucking insane.
|
El Nino looks really cool. In a way it's like Outsider, but then again it's not really either. On Outsider, glitching stuff through the minerals led you right into the main of the other base, but on El Nino, glitching stuff through the minerals only leads you to the back of their natural (or just a cliff going the other way) so it'll only be for harassing the natural rather than getting right into the main. I kind of like that better even.
|
Eye of the Storm probably fits more. And perhaps Typhoon rather than Hurricane, as the former deals with Pacific storms and the latter Atlantic storms.
I like El Nino. It's like a more balanced version of Outsider due to the lack of a 4th gas. Also ice maps are cool... but would've liked more ice and less green.
|

El Nino, more like IceSider.

Also you could get access to the third gas by just giltching one drone either way, on this map you have to go a distant to just glitch one drone for a gas exp.
The basic layout is from outsider yes, but the maps are VERY diffrent.

BoT, These maps look like shit imo Or it could be the weather pattern. Which is cooler. You mean the area in the Pacific that affects whether patterns.
Anyway, for the "Cyclone Eye" map, I vote for "Eye of the Storm" as the more idiomatic English name.

Why did they replace Outsider with a map that is basically Outsider? edit: I guess both of them look non-terrible and even potentially exciting! Hooray also doesn't El Nino have an enyay (n with a ~ above it)?

Icecider... MM refreshing.

Actually both of these new maps have completely killed Z due to lack of gas, and prevented the only measure, as you pointed out, that Z can survive in ZvT.
Completely Zerg-killer maps imo.
|
When and where these maps will be avaliable for download?? EDIT: Ice Outsider is a blatant P map. THANK GOD. P needed better map love this season. The second map seems balanced. I'm not sure about TvZ but as far as PvT and PvZ go, they seem fair.
|
They paniced at the thought of having to buy the Platinum Mouse for Jaedong, and hence destroyed his chances by making both maps impossibly bad for Zerg...
Also, on the Eye map it seems like top vs bottom will play completely differently from horizontal positions, which is quite cool.
|
haha, tau cross and outsider had a baby, how cute

TaePenguin: Rax behind natural? Glitch SCVs in to block any entrances with depots? Maybe even cannons? OffFax? I guess 1 base play with denied natural will pay off against zerg.
Why is the low-value mineral block at 12's natural next to the main and far away for the other 2 players? Might be important in cheesy builds. Gas placement at the natuals is positionally imbalanced, there could be issues in tvt.
Overall imo this map is very unrefined.
Cyclone Eye looks better, but how in the world is p going to defend against t in horizontal positions? 2 tight ramps, and both in favor of the terran, as well as a free base on the push route. I'd simply wall off the ramps, especially the one in the middle and happily push towards the p.
|
Ice Cider looks like it doesn't have Outsider's double gas. Good news for T and P this OSL?

hehe Tau Sider, not bad
Typhoon Eye's even got a lil bit of Troy, Acro going on.

Looks like p player can flank easily with the lack of obstacles on the map.
|
In the middle, yes. But not on those horizontal paths at the top/bottom.
|
Lol somebody rotated Tau Cross by 45 degrees. Also whats with the Natural Disaster names?
|
Wow, cyclone one eye looks IMPOSSIBLE ZvT! Zerg would have to pick up another main to get a 3rd gas... T_T

btw for El Nino, the mineral-only expo has a wide range of value from 225 to 2500 iirc for each mineral field

no, first of all most if not all pro gamers use shift+tab so enemies are red. Secondly map makers can remove and add player colors via 3rd party editor.
I think the main reason is just because its too bright (and lots of units look like shit on the tileset including pylon aura)
|
IS THAT AN ICE MAP????
SAY IT IS SO.
I have been championing for a new ice map for the longest time. I get so tired of the typical jungle tileset.
Cant wait until SC2 when you can combine all the tilesets into one (Well... I imagine you'll be able to do that anyway...).
Really like these maps. I hope to see a lot of them.
|
Why are people saying el nino is like outsider? I mean, I see the mineral walls but any player can access either side without moving through an enemy's main. Also, the first mineral wall is the natural expansion. That makes it a totally different map concept that shares a couple of features with outsider, namely 3 players and the use of mineral walls (though not in the same ways).
|
cool a map with snow the expos for el nino are kinda like outsider where the minerals can be crossed.... interesting.

there's 2 geysers near the main (not including the one in main) if you look closely
For 12 main, there's 1 geyser at main, 1 geyser at nat and 1 geyser at 11 (close to main, near the 7M mineral wall)

Holy World was a boring disaster, and I'm glad they're finally ditching RotK.
But why...WHY WHY WHY did they fucking choose HEARTBREAK of all maps??
