Ban and then if they were a decent forum member let them try and return with a new identity seems best. I agree with Kwark, only outstanding or good posters should be allowed back after a period of time, what period of time is the question. I don't think allowing someone like clazziquai back after 1 year would be unreasonable. Of course if he got caught hacking again then a permanent ban with no forgiveness should be the course of action. In CAL-CS we banned cheaters for 1 year, then 2, then permanently with lesser penalties for things like illegal ringers and illegal config changes(similar to abusing a bug you could say, like 16 biting). I don't know if it would be different in StarCraft, but many people who were banned from CAL were constantly repeat offenders and they could obtain new IPs, steamids, whatever, and they would be tracked down. I can only imagine the same would be true here at TL, that somebody who deserved to be banned would remain banned, eventually. Someone like clazz had a reputation built up and it is now shattered but I wouldn't see the problem in allowing him the opportunity to began rebuilding it after 1 year. Although I don't think a new identity is appropriate, the user should continue on the same handle.

Well, it's not like admins can't enforce a rule against this kind of thing like how they warn/ban people who say 1a2a3a or inb4 close or whatever.

It checks for a program that allows you to load 3rd party programs while having iccups AH launcher running. Obviously it's not 100% that you were loading a hack while using it, but there really isnt much reason to use it for anything else.

Refer to the Python_Max posts in this thread if you want more information. The reason why it's still no argument is that you would've have had to start using these programs right when the logging started, and only then have realized that it discs you.

I thought the same way at first but now I think that hackers should be ban for a certain amount of time. Like someone cought hacking gets banned for like 6 month. After 6 month he can play again and if he hacks again -> lifetime ban. Everyone deserves a second chance for everything (exept murder or something ![]()

A six month ban tells people they can use hacks and get caught and have minimal consequences. In fact, this will encourage even more people to hack knowing in the very very rare situation they do get caught, they will infact get a slap on the wrist. At least if nothing is done they might fear some kind of iron hammer coming down in the future. Not knowing what is going to happen is often worse than knowing. So if your plan is to encourage more hackers and people using hacks on the only safe haven available to players then it is a great plan. When you look at the absurd number of people caught over and over again through the years, it is naive to think hackers want to be reformed by do gooders.

I agree in some points but many people who hack are very young people without experience. These people would be extremely fucked if they cant play iccup for 6 month... its a long time! But on the other hand I would agree with you when it comes to professional gaming. When people hack in toruraments played for money or something like this. they should be maybe banned from all other tournaments or something.

How's that going? any Positives ? other than the one who made an account trying to deny the crime of course. What's the punishment for these TL accounts? would you IP ban them so they can't even open up Teamliquid? or a regular ban that made them not able to post but still able to click on the live streams and brows teamliquid?
