Hey everyone, I'm so happy right now! :D

I finally reached my first goal in 1v1. Remember?

CecilSunkure strongly recommended to have a fixed goal, so I made up my mind. I'm currently a Silver league player, so my goal will be as follows:
I want to be promoted to Gold league AND I want to win 25 games on the way to get the Stalker portrait (sorry, I love getting new portraits ), AND I want to play all the games using a stolen build order (see above), WHICH I learn using day[9]'s method!

I was promoted to Gold league after my 133rd match. I'm currently 69-63 (actually it's a tiny bit more games, but I didn't save my first ~10 games!

). On the way I learned four build order. Adel's No Gas PvP, 4 Gate, 3 Gate Expand, and 2 Gate Robo Expand. Having reached my goal makes me happy. It has been one month and one day since I set myself my first goal.

So now it is time for a new set of goals to strife for.

I'm currently in Gold league at about 800-900 points. My goal is to reach 1500 points in the coming month and be a steady Gold level player. I want to learn one more build order per match-up.

In addition to that I started playing some more 3v3 RT, as I'm still addicted to it. I was demoted from Diamond league to Platinum, after I fiddled around with playing Random instead of Protoss, but I'm back on track and steadily moving my way forward. I'm currently 26-26 and still got a lot of Bonus Pool to eat up, before I consider myself back on the road. My goal here will be to make it to #1-3 with 1000 points within June.

Also I want to get the Immortal and Excecutor portraits in the near future. I think it's rewarding for casual gamers like me to get those achievements every now and then.

Please feel free to make any suggestions on some new builds I should take a look at. Make recommendations. Also, do you like getting portraits as well? What about fellow 3v3 players? are there any?

hm, if your goal is to get better faster, I would recommend against learning new build orders but instead sticking to 1, at most 2, per matchup and really master them. If your goal is to mostly have fun then yeh sounds great and gl.

Congratulations on reachig your goal, well done

I love 3v3, cannon rushing is awesome there cause your allies can buy you time to get back into the game. Also killing two people with a cannonrush is an awesome feeling. As far as real buildorders go, I feel that in 3v3 it is more important to coordinatig your play as team (even with random teams) but that takes a lot of typing without TS.

Upgrades are also really good in 3v3 I usually begin double chronoed forges after my expansion goes up as my usual team plays expanding oriented strategies. Gateway units + double forge + council upgrades have won me many a game (and helped me practice to keep my gateways on cd even during action!) You can also work on your mechanics in team games, theres a daily about that too. I think it's number 26x i wanna say, but im really not sure.

Pretty much any kind of standard composition works well in team games aswell, try coordinating with your allies.

Sounds like you have a pretty solid idea build wise.

Instead of learning new builds, refine your current ones, learn exactly how they work and how to react appropriately to everything your opponet does, learn how to transition into different things, for exampe 2 gate robo into double forge collosus timing attack.

Basically as a newer player you should aim to play safe and as you improve, aim to learn more about the game as it progresses from early game, to mid to late game.

Learn when is the right time to take a 3rd / 4th on different maps, learn how to react to different builds and lean how to keep your macro going when you're on a large number of bases and keep pressure on your opponent.

Play around a bit too, have some fun, be creative with your units when you can but ultimately work on improving your mechanics and understanding of how a game flows as time progresses.

You can set yourself small goals within games too, for instance not getting supply blocked till 120 food.
Reaching 3/3 upgrades as fast as possible.
Only going gateway units.
Not letting your opponent take a third, whilst taking one yourself.
Keep at least one probe moving around the map to scout, place pylons and see what he can see.

All things that will help you understand.

Finally, dont be afraid to lose, losing is a valuabe part of the learning process, and definately dont be afraid to lose if you try any of those ideas above, if anything losing is even better in those situations as you can then make small adjustments to avoid dying and you'll be learning a lot!
