You want a way of being safe fast without using probes. When they commit allin to blocking your gateway stuff while you're building up your own economy and relying on travel time to defend you you end up ahead.
Everytime they did it to, I attacked the gateway with probes, and I won. Maybe the opponents were not strong.
What seems to have happened, is that I do get zealots much before the opponent and map control
You can harass his base so badly when your gateway is that much earlier.
He still has a pylon and gateway to go though when my zealot is already under production.

I guess they didn't know what they were doing then. If you don't commit to the proxy gateways you can still come out ahead because of travel time and because you build a 2nd gateway swiftly in your main (on about 14 psi). You need to have a clear idea of how you're adapting from the failed proxy rather than just attempt to play it normally but it doesn't leave you behind if you do it well. Imo most players are really bad at doing anything non standard.

oh, and send probes to mine geiser from bottom right of the geiser... they'll go into between they gateways so they can attack the zealot and squeeze it out.
and you can build an assimilator on the geiser which makes it take up less space, so zealots can fit through.

You can also replace the pylon to the left of the gas as he kills it if you're fast enough which is highly annoying.
That should give you instant wins up to B or so. Works for me when I get bored. If he counter attacks either cannon yourself or save up 400 then go allin and take his base. His nexus is within cannon range and he's gonna lose his gates and pylons whereas all yours are in his base, you're still ahead.
