I remember during the Guild Wars beta when I played about 15 hours a day (was only during one weekend). I took screenshots of everything. The next few days I seriously thought that I somehow could take screenshots in real life. Like if I saw something funny IRL I would be...hey, take a screenshot....oh....wait...T_T.

A year ago when I played a lot of bw I would dream exclusively about playing bw and it became really bothersome because I would constantly wake up and couldnt get a good sleep at all.

This is only D game and I really didn't think at all while playing, so it's embarrassing and pointless.
Nothing to learn from there :D

You didnt beat a B- player at zvz ok? Sorry, just no. He was lying about his rank.

If you're concerned you're playing too much try setting a more moderate time limit and really commit yourself to sticking to it.

If u feel it's too much, then take a 1-2 week break. I can't fall asleep if I've played too much bw, I guess the strategical thinking part of your brain is too active, stressfull or something.

Also a lot of players ,like me, become better through breaks.

When I just woke up during a weekend a few weeks ago and my mum shouted that my breakfast was ready I thought of going down to the minerals (the food, kitchen) and build a command center there?!!? A few seconds later I realised this was IRL.... -_-

For a few months I was playing 15 1v1's a day. Now it's down to 3 if I'm lucky. I'm pretty happy with that though.

i have instinctively started to plan my days around starcraft. If a buddy of mine wants me to come over and watch the basketball game or something, i immediately do the math of the time it will take and how much, if any, starcraft i can fit in after.

I still play that game. Such a fun and terrible waste of time. I even have dreams of me being a Covert Ops and coming behind a Soldier with a MG-42 with a knife.

Terrible, terrible waste of time...

Hello for the first time my hacker beotches!
Lately I've noticed that I play BW significantly more than usual. Perhaps 15-20 games of 1v1, 10 2v2 and few UMS as well. It's making me worried.

Good thing about it is that I am not frustrated about losing and I am improving with every game - I try to analyze what I did wrong and try to prevent that happening for next games. I managed to beat previous season B- in ZvZ and C in ZvP while I am only D/D+ rank. So improvement is certainly noticeable.

Sadly enough it has negative sides too - yesterday my eyes and head hurt like fluck. Today I'm going to visit my grandmother and look for a car to buy, but I'd rather stay home and play BW. Being too addicted to BW does not affect my real life though, as I don't have it :p Also I have started to think about BW before falling asleep, I used to think about girls during that time ;;

Perhaps visiting grandmother and chilling a bit there clears my mind up and I will become bit less addicted.

I do not know why did I wrote this, I can't think really think after 31 minute ZvZ when I suicided about 11 ultras into lurker and hydralisk fire and eventually losing the game.

BTW, Chill STILL has great voice for casting BW games, looking forward to F91 and kOs and I hope Chill casts :p You all leet.

I just played like 100 games on ICC Friday night =.=

If you play any game for significant periods, it is unsuprising for some of your attitude to reflect that when doing other things. It is called the Tetris effect. Personally, I have mostly been subject to "earworms", cachy songs from games which would sometimes play in my mind. This also happened with Brood War, since I got quite heavily involved with it a few months ago. Luckily, it is far too rare to be a disorder.

Anyway, as long as you know your priorities, there is nothing wrong with devoting a lot of time to a game. I remember when I was in a special program in high school. I played WoW back then, but my time was beggining to cut short since exams were about to start. Rather then sacrifice my school to play WoW, I chose to (for the most part) quit WoW and focus on my studies.

As long as you know what has greater importance and you devout enough time to it, there is no problem with spending your free time on doing what you like.

The Tetris effect is fascinating.

I know for my part, that when I would be falling asleep, I would see battles playing over in my mind and I would feel as though there was something I needed to be doing, that I always needed to have a constant stream of minerals flowing in (that was the oddest thing - feeling in real life like there are minerals to be gathered).

It's even worse for me with Go, however.

After playing go for 8 hours in one day, I found myself dreaming that I was always in atari, running for my life.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
